ADVERTISEMENTS

Globe Telecom has been busy expanding their wireless broadband network to accommodate the increasing demand for the internet. Just this year, Globe's Visibility was relaunched as the hip Globe Tattoo and the launching of the first WiMax (Worldwide interoperability for Microwave Access) service in the country. This June, Globe launched the fastest broadband internet in the country with speeds of upto 100Mbps via the fiber-to-the home technology.

Globe Broadband Tattoo is perfect for those people who are always on the go. Though the new designs really don't matter, Globe Tattoo gives you access to Globe's HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) network. Currently, Globe provides speeds of upto 2Mbps.

Globe Broadband Tattoo is available on three postpaid plans and a prepaid kit. Plan 799 provides 60 hours of 3G/HSDPA and 2 hours on Globe Wiz. Plan 999 provides 75 hours of 3G/HSDPA and 3 hours of Globe WiZ. Plan 1499 provides 120 hours of 3G/HSDPA and unlimited access to Globe WiZ.

Globe Broadband Tattoo prepaid kit comes with a 5 hour free 3G/HSDPA access (P100 prepaid load). Additional minutes can be purchased at a rate of P5 per 15 minutes

Globe Broadband powered by WiMax is perfect to those who need unlimited internet access but lives in areas where internet access is limited. WiMAX is a technology designed to enable the deployment of wireless broadband access as a cost-efficient alternative to cable and DSL. WIMAX also has improved reach and can cover distances greater than those covered by other wireless technologies like WiFi, CDMA, or 3G. Globe’s network is considered the first and biggest 2.5Ghz WiMAX (802.16e) broadband network in South East Asia.

Globe is first in the Philippines to commercially launch a consumer Wimax offering. Currently, Globe has around four thousand subscribers on its WiMAX network, after only a few weeks.

The service is initially available in selected areas in South Luzon, NCR, Visayas, and Mindanao. WiMax plans are as follows, Plan 795 provides of up to unlimited 512kbps, Plan 995 provides up to 512kbps and a landline phone, Plan 1295 provides 1Mbps and a landline phone.

Starting June 12, Globe will also offer a PC+Internet bundle subscription in selected areas in South Luzon. The PC and Internet bundle comes in three plans: the Student Plan, the Busy Bee plan, and the Techie plan.

The Student plan is ideal for households with school-aged children who need a PC and an internet connection for research and other basic internet use such as social networking, surfing, email, chat and even casual games. The users make a small down payment of only PHP999, and a low monthly fee of only P1,472 per month for a bundled WIMAX connection and PC.

The Busy Bee plan is ideal for busy folks who regularly use the internet, and who need to take their work with them. Users pay a small down payment of PHP999, then pay a small monthly fee of P1,751 for a WiMAX connection and a net book. The busy bee has the option to buy a prepaid Globe Broadband Tattoo separately for only P1,895 for a truly mobile working experience.

The Techie plan is ideal for users who require a more powerful device to go with their high-speed internet connection. For a down payment of only PHP1,499 and a monthly fee of only P2,029, users get a WiMAX connection and a Neo laptop.

Globe has also introduced their hyper-speed plans this June. With speeds of up to 100 Mbps, the Hyper-Speed is the fastest Internet connection in the Philippines.

The entry plan is 10Mbps, which comes at a monthly fee of P3,995/mo. The 10Mbps plan comes with a landline as well as a WiFi router. The 100Mbps plan is a bit pricey at P14,999/mo.

The hyper-speed plans will be available in Forbes Park starting June 15; by July it will be available in Makati Villages Bel-Air and Urdaneta, and in Serendra, Taguig.
