MyMusicStore Launched in the Philippines

An online music store has been launched in the Philippines last night with the hopes of fighting the rampant illegal music downloads.

MyMusicStore offers music downloads from both local and foreign artists for as low as P20 per song.

"Kailangan namin makaisip ng paraan na labanan ang piracy. So naisip namin itong online music store, pwede silang bumili ng kanta sa halagang P20 to P35 lang. We will release songs first, and other experiences that would make it worth their purchase," said John Alonte, CEO of Rising Tide Mobile Entertainment.

Users can use their credit cards (PayPal included) and even Smart Load to purchase songs. Currently, there are 160,000 songs available for download at MyMusicStore. They promise to increase the inventory in the coming weeks.

MyMusicStore is being supported by the country's major labels including Star Records, Sony Music, Universal Records, etc.
