Let's Play Guild Wars 2
It's been more or less 10 years since I first played Guild Wars which was recommended by a friend. I haven't played that game in years but I still have the core game installer. It's free to play forever if you have the game and at the time, it was one of the coolest games I've ever played.
Recently, that same friend asked if I still played and I found out Guild Wars 2's core game was free. I decided to download it and play the game.
The free account gets you 2 character slots to begin with. You can always buy another slot using gems from the in-game store or from purchasing the latest released expansion, Heart of Thorns. There are 5 races you can choose from: Asura, Sylvari, Human, Norn, and Charr. After choosing a gender, you can then choose a profession: an engineer, necromancer, thief, Elementalist, warrior, ranger, Mesmer, and guardian. There are a couple more questions after that and when all is done, you now have a character with its own story you can explore.
The first character I created is a female human warrior. I almost chose a Sylvari but the human characters were prettier. Meet Lady Nikolah.
A few hours of playing and I was reminded why I didn't like melee characters. I suck at hand-to-hand combat, not that I'm any better with range, but at least I can be far from the target. I later found out my warrior can use a gun/rifle, which worked great.
I created a new character, still human, but chose the Mesmer profession. It was that or an Elementalist but decided to stick with Mesmers and I was not disappointed. I named her Artemisia Xafyre.
One of the things I liked about the game is the beauty of its world. I would find a good place to take a screenshot for my characters' social media. Yep. They're millennials. But the camera panning only goes so much that my shots are kind of limited.
The quests and activities are also cool and challenging. There's a lot of things to explore and do, plus there's a personal story to follow. I've only started playing this week, for 2-3 hours a day after working, and I've reached level 17 on my warrior and almost 20 on my Mesmer.
Download the client and register for an account to start playing. Feel free to send me a PM in-game and maybe I can help you out.
