Microsoft Confident Call of Duty Can Run on Nintendo Switch

Microsoft's recent agreement with Nintendo to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo platforms for at least a decade has been met with excitement from gamers. Now, Microsoft has provided further details about its plans for Call of Duty on the Nintendo Switch, and it seems they are confident the game can run smoothly on the hybrid console.

In a filing submitted to the UK's Competition and Markets Authority, Microsoft stated that the free-to-play Warzone and Call of Duty's full premium releases can both have a home on Nintendo's console. The company believes that the game engine that powers Warzone is mature and has been optimized to run on a wide range of hardware devices, including the Nintendo Switch.

While the Switch is newer than the Xbox One, Microsoft is not deterred, pointing out that the Switch is not necessarily more powerful. Multiple games that originally released on Xbox One have received native Switch ports with lowered performance and resolution to get them running on the system.

Microsoft is confident that the Activision development team can optimize Call of Duty's performance for the available hardware capabilities of the Nintendo Switch. They believe that Call of Duty's buy-to-play titles can be optimized to run on the Switch in a timely manner using standard techniques that have been used to bring games like Apex Legends, DOOM Eternal, Fortnite, and Crysis 3 to the console.

This is great news for Nintendo Switch owners, who have already enjoyed ports of games like Skyrim, Wolfenstein 2, and Dark Souls Remastered. It seems that Microsoft won't take the cloud version approach on Nintendo platforms, as they have committed to developing and publishing future native console versions of Call of Duty titles for Nintendo platforms for at least 10 years.

Overall, it seems that Microsoft is confident that Call of Duty can run on the Nintendo Switch, and fans of the game will be eagerly anticipating its arrival on the popular console.
