The news broke more widely after cybersecurity watchers on Twitter, including Dark Web Informer, posted about a ransomware attack linked to the group "Devman." In their tweet, they claimed the attackers managed to get admin access to multiple Windows Server 2012 R2 systems used by GMA News and Public Affairs. They also allegedly accessed shared drives, encrypted files, and PowerShell sessions, tools commonly used for managing systems and automation.

Even more alarming, the hackers reportedly demanded a $2.5 million ransom in exchange for unlocking the data. As of now, GMA has not confirmed any ransom demands or directly addressed the group behind the attack.
