Adobe Brings Photoshop to Android: Beta Version Now Available for Free
After months of waiting, Android users finally get a taste of Photoshop on their phones. Adobe has officially launched the beta version of its Photoshop app for Android, giving users the chance to explore powerful photo editing tools, now made mobile-friendly.
While Adobe first rolled out its Photoshop mobile app for iPhone users earlier this year, the Android version is catching up fast. This beta release offers a wide range of tools adapted from the desktop version, such as layers, masks, blending options, and even AI-powered features like Generative Fill. Best of all, it's currently free to use while in beta.
The app is designed with touchscreens in mind. You can remove unwanted objects using the Spot Healing Brush, clean up or clone parts of an image, and make detailed selections using features like Magic Wand and Object Select. There’s also access to Adobe Stock’s free assets, letting users experiment with stock images while working on the go.
One particularly handy tool is Tap Select, which makes editing faster by letting users remove or swap parts of an image with a single tap. This makes complex tasks like combining photos or adding effects much simpler.
Photoshop for Android works on devices with Android 11 or later, and while it needs at least 6GB of RAM, Adobe recommends 8GB or more for the best experience.
Adobe is clearly aiming to expand its user base, especially among younger creatives who prefer doing things on their phones. For experienced Photoshop users, this mobile version is a more convenient way to edit without needing a computer.
While the app is free during its beta phase, Adobe says that once the full version is released, users who want access to premium tools will need to pay $7.99 a month. However, those already subscribed to any Photoshop plan will get mobile access included at no extra charge.
This move signals Adobe's push toward making creative tools more mobile and accessible. And for Android users who’ve been watching iPhone users enjoy mobile Photoshop for months, it’s finally time to join in.
