Red Dead Redemption Finally Arrives on Mobile, and Netflix Users Get the Best Deal
One of Rockstar’s most iconic games has finally wandered its way onto phones. Red Dead Redemption, the classic 2010 Western adventure, is now officially available on iOS and Android. Fans have been waiting years for this moment, and the mobile version finally gives players a chance to explore the frontier anywhere they go.
The price, however, is where things get interesting. In the Philippines, the standalone mobile app costs a hefty P2,279, which is a big jump from what most people expect to pay for a mobile title. The good news is that Netflix swooped in with a far more appealing option. Anyone with a Netflix subscription can download the full game for free, ads excluded, with no extra charges. That also includes Undead Nightmare, the zombie themed expansion that fans still love.
The mobile version is locked at 30 FPS, which longtime players might notice, especially those used to the smoother 60 FPS mode on console and PC. Compatibility is also strict. The game would not install on some fairly capable midrange devices powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 and Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3, which suggests Rockstar is being very selective with supported hardware.
Graphics settings are also minimal. You can toggle motion blur and adjust resolution scaling, or switch between Fidelity and Performance modes, but that is pretty much it. Also be prepared to clear some space on your phone because the full install takes around 6.79 GB.
If you are planning to grab the game through Netflix, the process is surprisingly simple. Just open the Netflix app, scroll to the Games section, find Red Dead Redemption, then download it through the App Store or Play Store. After installing, sign in with your Netflix account and you’re good to go.
Whether you want to revisit John Marston’s journey or experience this classic for the first time, the mobile release is finally here for both longtime fans and newcomers.
