Utada Hikaru Will Release Her 6th Japanese Album After 8 Years

After 8 years of hiatus, Utada Hikaru will be returning to the music scene by releasing her 6th Japanese full album.

It was earlier announced this month that Utada Hikaru will be releasing a full album on September 28, 2016. There is no title yet for the album but there are details on what songs that will be included.

The tracks are "Sakura Nagashi" (the Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo theme song), "Hanataba Wo Kimini" (the theme song for the Toto Nee-Chan: Fatherly Sister drama) and "Manatsu no Tooriame" (the theme song for NTV's NEWS ZERO program). The rest of the album will feature new tracks. The album will retail for 3,000 yen (about US$30).

Her previous album Heart Station was released last March 19, 2008. It debuted at number one on both the Daily and Weekly Oricon Albums Chart, with 480,081 units sold in its first week of sales, making it the highest selling album by a female artist based on first week sales of 2008.
