Fernando de Jesus Diaz Beato, was shot outside his home in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He died shortly.
Before his wake, his family decided they wanted to remember him as if he were still alive.

With their instructions, a funeral service sat Diaz Beato in a chair and dressed him in sports gear with his legs crossed, holding a cigarette.

They also decided to keep his eyes open to make his appearance more lifelike.

Family members have been quoted saying that he was a very happy person in real life and would have wanted it that way.

The visitors, after recovering from the initial shock, said they were very happy seeing him as if he was still alive.
