NTC Allows Bandwidth Capping on Revised Draft MO

The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) continues its anti-consumer stand by allowing Internet Service Providers to specify the minimum broadband connection speed, service reliability and rates.

In the revised draft Memorandum Order on Minimum Speed of Broadband Connections, ISPs will be allowed to set a maximum data alloted per subscriber per day. In short, they are free to set limits on each subscriber per day.

The draft MO also said service providers offering committed information rate (CIR) should comply with NTC Memorandum Circular No. 12-19-2004 or the Service Performance Standards for Internet Access Services and Wired Telecommunication Services.

"Failure on part of a broadband service provider to comply with the order, the Commission shall file appropriate administrative case against broadband service provider," the NTC said.

YEAH RIGHT.

  1. Dear NTC,

Hindi UNLIMITED ang unlimited, kung may bandwidth cap per subscriber, per day! Kaya nga unlimited, NO LIMIT. (¬_¬)

    Enraged subscriber,
