GameOPS at the Tokyo Game Show 2011

I got my press passes last week, so it looks like I'll be at this year's Tokyo Game Show on September 15 and 16 at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba (which actually isn't in Tokyo). I'll be taking lots of pictures and looking for cool new video game related stuff for you guys (and girls). All the major game companies will be there at TGS (except for Nintendo, as usual), although this year there will be a focus on SNS and mobile phone games.

The keynote speech will taken on by three individuals, Mr. Yoichi Wada (CESA Chairman), Mr. Shuhei Yoshida (SCE President), and Mr. Yoshikazu Tanaka (GREE President and CEO). GREE is social networking service on mobile phones. They also develop games that can be played over their SNS as a platform.

As a macro-overview of the current game industry, Mr. Wada will focus on the changes happening in video games, which I reckon will involve SNS and mobile phone games. It's an expanding industry that covers a significantly larger market than PC and console gaming.

Mr. Yoshida and Mr. Tanaka will then focus on their companies' products, both of which represent the two major spheres of gaming: traditional console gaming and "new age gaming" in the form of SNS and mobile phone games. More information on the Playstation Vita will be presented by Mr. Yoshida, while Mr. Tanaka will be discussing his company's future strategy with regard to the fast growing global network.
