Catholic Priests: Avoid Angry Birds and Other Violent Gifts

Members of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) are asking people to avoid giving toys such as "Angry Bird" products this Christmas. CBCP Media Office director Monsignor Pedro Quitorio III said that the game Angry Birds enhances anger and is "inconsistent with the season's message of love and peace."

Another member of CBCP, Bishop Joel Baylon, chairman of the CBCP Episcopal Commission on Youth said, "I have been negative towards that (giving toy guns) because of its possible bad effects on children. Parents should act like censors here. They should be more careful in providing gifts to children."

Educational gifts and children books should be given this Christmas instead of violent video games the Bishop added. Baylon thinks that playing violent games would have long-term effects on the kids values while growing up. Apparently, flying birds and green pigs are more violent for these Bishops than a certain plumber who eats dubious mushrooms and stomps and kills defenseless goombas and turtles.

Dear CBCP, I have a simple Christmas request from you. Please EXCOMMUNICATE ME. I can't take your stupidity anymore. Ktnkxbai.
