Rurouni Kenshin Movie in the Philippines
Rurouni Kenshin's live-action movie adaptation may soon come to Philippine cinemas after all. The official Facebook page of Pioneer Films Philippines (Movie Punch) just announced that they might be the official distributor of the film instead of Warner Bros. Pictures Philippines.
When asked by a Facebook user Judith Razon if they would locally distribute the film, Warner Bros. Pictures (Philippines) told her that "we don't have the rights to release Rurouni Kenshin here in the Philippines."
Rurouni Kenshin was a popular manga and anime series known in the Philippines as Samurai X. The movie was released by Warner Bros. Pictures (Japan) on August 25 in Japanese cinemas. The movie stars former Kamen Rider Den-O star Takeru Sato as Kenshin Himura, Emi Takei as Kaoru, and former Kamen Rider Skull star Kouji Kikkawa as Udou Jin-e.
Pioneer Films Philippines hasn't released any further details (release date, cinemas, etc.).
UPDATE: Pioneer Films posted a comment on their Movie Punch Facebook Page saying that they are still negotiating with the Japanese producers,

isn't it odd that for a veteran assassin kenshin himura looks like a teen idol
ReplyDeleteGiven the fact that Kenshin's actor, Takeru Sato starred in Kamen Rider Den-O as Ryotarou Nogami.
ReplyDeleteHe's actually good with his acting despite that he is 5 years younger than Kenshin's actual age in the manga, which is 28.
ReplyDeleteAlso, you're opinion does not matter. Female fans will agree with me. LOL! XD
