Marvel has made it official today! The Marvel Cinematic Universe has its Capt. Marvel. During a lively panel interview at Comic-Con International, the studio confirmed Academy Award-winning actor Brie Larson for the role of Carol Danvers. She'll make her first appearance in the upcoming "Avengers: Infinity War" and will also star in a "Captain Marvel" solo movie currently scheduled for release March 8, 2019.

Larson was in negotiations for the role as early as June. After the panel, she posted a photo of herself wearing a Marvel Studios hat with the caption, "Call me Captain Marvel."
