Fil-Am Trainee Gets Nod From All 3 K-pop Star Judges
KPOP STAR, the reality TV competition series where three big Korean music companies search for the next K-pop star, has just accepted a Filipino to compete in their show.
For the sixth and final season of KPOP STAR, the format has been changed to allow trainees from other companies and artists who previously debuted to compete. Titled as "KPOP STAR 6: The Last Chance" it encourages anyone to participate in "the last chance" to become a K-pop idol.
Kriesha Tiu (크리샤 츄, also spelled Chrisha Choo in Korea) is a 17 year-old San Francisco-based Filipina, who currently trains under Urban Works Entertainment. She performed Urban Zakapa's "I Don't Love You" and danced to an acoustic version of Justin Bieber's "Boyfriend" in front of judges Park Jin-young (JYP Entertainment), Yang Hyun-suk (YG Entertainment), and Yoo Hee-yeol (Antenna Music).
She gets praise and approval from all three judges to go on to next round of the competition, even going so far as to say they wanted her in their own companies. She surprised them even further with her Korean language skills after she revealed she is actually Filipino.
Watch her performances below.
KPOP STAR 6: The Last Chance airs every Sunday at SBS.
