Netflix's Death Note ready for 2018 release

The Hollywood adaptation of the popular Japanese manga, Death Note, is in the final stages of editing, according to its director Adam Wingard.

"Coming up is Death Note, which I’m just now finishing the editing on," Wingard said. "For me, I need a little breather time because the last few films I've done have been all stacked up on top of each other. I went from The Guest to that TV pilot for Outcast and then went right into the Blair Witch with complete overlap. I did a writers room on this other project and then went straight into Death Note."

Death Note was first serialized by Shueisha in the Japanese manga magazine Weekly Shonen Jump from the first issue in December 2003 to May 2006, with 108 chapters in total. There has already been an anime, 3 live action films, and live action TV series released in Japan. A new film titled Death Note: Light up the NEW world was released in Japan last October 29, 2016.

The franchise was picked up by Netflix after Warner Bros. lost interest in making the film. No exact date has been set yet for Death Note’s release on Netflix.
