Toxic Crusaders: A Blast from the ’90s Past

Beat ’em up games have been making a comeback lately, and Toxic Crusaders is the latest blast from the ’90s past to join the fray. This animated television show loosely based on The Toxic Avenger films is getting a video game by developer Retroware, and it promises to deliver all the co-op action and motion comic cutscenes you could want.

One of the standout features of Toxic Crusaders is its metal soundtrack, which is cheesy and awesome all at the same time. The game will feature 4-player co-op action and full voice acting, as well as cameos from the Troma Cinematic Universe.

In terms of combatants, Toxic Crusaders does not disappoint. You’ll be able to play as a deformed janitor, werewolf, punk girl, and even something with a wheel from an airplane as its foot. And everything is lovingly animated, bringing these characters to life in a way that’s sure to delight fans of the show.

If you’re excited to get your hands on Toxic Crusaders, you can Wishlist it on Steam now. The game is set to launch in late 2023 on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, and Xbox One.

The hottest heroes of 1991 return for a radical, radioactive romp for a new era, featuring awesome action, crushing combos and more toxic waste than you'll know what to do with! Developer and publisher Retroware has teamed up with Troma Entertainment to bring the Toxic Crusaders back, for an all-new, all-action beat 'em up for one to four players! Grab your mop, tutu and attitude, and get ready to clean up the mean streets of Tromaville, one radioactive goon at a time!
