DICT’s Jocelle Batapa-Sigue Resigns as Undersecretary
Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, who served as undersecretary for ICT Industry Development at the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), has officially stepped down from her post, effective May 25, 2025. The news was first reported by Newsbytes.PH.
Her resignation comes just days after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. called on all cabinet secretaries to submit their courtesy resignations, hinting at a broad government reshuffle following poor midterm election results.
Batapa-Sigue played a major role in developing the local ICT sector, especially in strengthening the BPO industry and promoting digital innovation in rural areas. Before joining DICT, she was a known tech advocate from Bacolod City and once led the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines.
In a statement, DICT Secretary Henry Aguda voiced his support for the President’s decision and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to uplifting Filipino lives through technology.
As for Batapa-Sigue, she’s heading back to the private sector but says her mission remains the same: building digital ecosystems, creating jobs, and pushing for innovation outside Metro Manila. She thanked her DICT team and partners nationwide, noting that while her role in government may be ending, her work is far from over.
“I will be stronger, more passionate now, wiser in the private sector,” she told Newsbytes.PH.
