Google Launches NotebookLM App for Android
If you've been waiting for Google's AI-powered note-taking tool to go mobile, the wait is finally over. NotebookLM, once an experimental feature tucked away on the web, is now available as an Android app, and it’s looking like a must-have for students, researchers, and just about anyone who takes notes seriously.
While Google’s AI brand Gemini tends to be the headline grabber, NotebookLM has quietly evolved into something quite powerful. Originally launched in 2023 as a small-scale experiment for developers, the tool has since become more polished and user-friendly. Its ability to simplify long blocks of text, create interactive questions, and generate summaries quickly made it a fan favorite among early users.
Now that it’s on Android, using NotebookLM is more convenient than ever. You don’t have to be tied to your desktop to access your notes. Plus, all the features that made the web version so useful are still there, like Audio Overviews, which turn lengthy documents into podcast-like audio you can listen to offline. The app also respects your phone’s light and dark mode settings, which is a nice touch for those late-night study sessions.
The app works smoothly on devices like the Google Pixel 9 Pro. However, not every phone is playing nice just yet. For example, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra showed a compatibility error. This kind of hiccup isn't unusual for brand-new Play Store launches, and chances are good that support will widen soon. If you get an error, waiting a bit or downloading the APK from trusted sources like APKMirror might do the trick.
As for iPhone users, you're still stuck waiting. The Android version is out now, but there's no exact date yet for the iOS release. That said, Google has confirmed it’s in the works.
With NotebookLM now on Android, smart note-taking is finally as mobile as the rest of our digital lives.
