MediaTek Unveils Dimensity 9400e: A Power-Packed Update for High-End Phones
MediaTek is back with a new addition to its Dimensity line, unveiling the Dimensity 9400e, a chip built for high-performance smartphones. While it's technically a follow-up to last year’s Dimensity 9300+, it brings a few refined features, especially for gaming, connectivity, and AI integration.
Unlike other chips that mix high-efficiency cores with performance ones, the 9400e continues MediaTek’s “All Big Core” strategy. It features a 3.4GHz Cortex-X4 core, three more Cortex-X4 cores at 2.85GHz, and four Cortex-A720 cores running at 2.0GHz. These are paired with 8MB of L3 cache and 10MB of SLC, making it more than capable of handling demanding tasks.
Memory support is slightly toned down compared to its predecessor, supporting up to 8533MHz LPDDR5X RAM (down from 9600MHz in the 9300+). However, the chipset still supports ultra-fast UFS 4.0 storage with MCQ for snappy performance.
Gamers and content creators might appreciate the same powerful 12-core Immortalis-G720 MC12 GPU, now with hardware-accelerated ray tracing. Plus, there’s MediaTek’s HyperEngine and Adaptive Gaming Technology for smoother performance, alongside a new Frame Rate Converter. This latest addition is said to reduce power usage by up to 40 percent, though specifics on how it works weren’t shared.
Connectivity gets a boost too. Wi-Fi peak speeds jump to 7.3Gbps, which is faster than before, and Bluetooth 6.0 now includes a dual engine system. MediaTek says you could get up to 5km of range in ideal conditions, not bad for those who live in large homes or work in open areas.
The chip also gets smarter thanks to support for the latest NeuroPilot SDK. It’s now equipped to handle advanced AI applications like multi-modal processing, large vision models, and language models. For developers and AI-driven apps, that’s a big win.
You won’t have to wait long to see the Dimensity 9400e in action. Both OnePlus and Realme have announced that upcoming phones will use the chip. OnePlus is preparing to launch the Ace5 Racing Edition in China, while Realme is equipping its GT 7 series with the new chip. Both are expected to arrive this month.
