Netflix Is Bringing Clash of Clans to Life as an Animated Series
If you're a fan of mobile games, here's something cool to look forward to: Clash of Clans is getting its own animated series, and it's heading to Netflix.
This might not be too surprising given the rise of game-to-screen adaptations lately. Netflix has already turned some of the gaming world's biggest hits into binge-worthy shows, like Arcane, which wowed fans of League of Legends, and a new Devil May Cry series that just dropped recently. Now, it's Clash of Clans’ turn to join the streaming spotlight.
The series is being developed in partnership with Supercell, the game’s original creator, and the project is in the hands of Fletcher Moules. If that name rings a bell, he’s the same guy behind the early Clash of Clans shorts on YouTube. Helping bring the show to life is Ron Weiner, known for his work on the comedy hit 30 Rock, who’s stepping in as executive producer.
Netflix hasn’t announced a release date or cast just yet, but a bit of the story has been teased. The series will follow a bold but clueless Barbarian who has to gather an unlikely group of heroes to protect their village, all while dealing with the hilarious chaos of war-time politics. Sounds like a mix of action and comedy, which fans of the game might really enjoy.
For anyone who’s played Clash of Clans, this is a pretty exciting development. The game was one of the early kings of mobile gaming, keeping people glued to their phones since it launched over a decade ago. And like Angry Birds before it, Clash of Clans is proving it’s more than just a game, it’s a pop culture mainstay with plenty of stories still to tell.
