GCash Introduces PocketPay: Turn Your Phone into a Card Payment Terminal
GCash is bringing a new digital solution for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the Philippines. With PocketPay, business owners can now accept credit and debit card payments directly on their smartphones, eliminating the need for a traditional point-of-sale machine.
This move by GCash, operated by Globe Fintech Innovations (Mynt), aims to help MSMEs expand their businesses without extra costs. Jong Layug, Mynt’s general manager for B2B, explained that PocketPay is designed to be flexible, reliable, and easy to use. With more Filipinos shifting to cashless payments, MSMEs can now keep up with changing customer habits without investing in expensive equipment.
PocketPay is especially useful for pop-up shops, delivery-based businesses, and online sellers. Instead of asking customers to show proof of digital transfers, payments are completed simply by tapping a card on the phone, reducing mistakes and speeding up transactions.
MSMEs can sign up through the GCash for Business portal, and PocketPay is free to use until December 3. This gives small business owners a chance to test the service without worrying about additional fees.
GCash also offers SoundPay, a solution that accepts QR payments with a voice confirmation when a payment is made. Designed to keep businesses running smoothly, SoundPay operates at flexible rates and works alongside PocketPay to make cashless payments easier than ever.
With these innovations, GCash continues to support MSMEs in going digital, helping them serve customers faster and operate more efficiently.
