Filipinos in Japan Can Now Send Money Straight to GCash
Filipinos living in Japan just got an easier way to support their families back home. GCash has teamed up with PayForex, a Japan based remittance service, to let users send money directly to GCash accounts in the Philippines. No more commuting to a remittance center or dealing with long lines, everything can be done through the PayForex platform.
The partnership also comes with a perk for Filipinos abroad. Anyone using a Japanese mobile number can now cash in to their own GCash wallet. This lets them use the app for everyday payments in Japan, including purchases in convenience stores. GCash says many Filipinos already keep Japanese bank accounts connected to PayForex, so adding this option made sense.
Fees depend on how much is being sent. Transfers to eWallets cost 450 Yen for amounts up to 10,000 Yen, and can go up to 1000 Yen for remittances reaching 300,000 Yen.
GCash has been rolling out several international features recently. One of its newest offerings is the Virtual US Account, which gives users a way to receive payments in US dollars, a huge help for freelancers working with American clients. The app also expanded its Tap to Pay option for overseas transactions, adding more flexibility for travelers.
