Micron Is Leaving the Crucial Consumer Market as It Shifts Focus to Enterprise Needs

Micron has announced a major shift in its business strategy, revealing that it will step away from its long-running Crucial consumer line. This includes ending sales of Crucial branded SSDs and memory products through global retailers and online shops. The transition will last until the end of Micron’s fiscal Q2 in February 2026, after which the company will fully close this chapter of its business.

Although consumer sales will eventually stop, Micron says warranties and product support for existing Crucial items will continue. Enterprise customers will still get Micron branded solutions, which the company plans to strengthen as part of its broader strategic realignment.

The move was influenced largely by the rapid growth of AI workloads in data centers. According to Micron executive Sumit Sadana, the surge in demand for memory and storage has pushed the company to prioritize its biggest customers in high growth markets. For nearly three decades, Crucial has built a strong following among PC builders and tech enthusiasts, making this decision significant for many long time users. Micron expressed gratitude to its partners and the consumer community that supported the brand for 29 years.

This exit is part of Micron’s ongoing effort to reshape its portfolio and focus on segments with stronger long term profitability. By concentrating resources on enterprise and commercial products, the company aims to improve supply, sharpen its competitiveness and provide more consistent value to major customers.

To lessen the impact of this shift on employees, Micron plans to offer redeployment opportunities into current open roles within the company.
