OnePlus Might Be Cooking Up a Gaming Handheld

It looks like OnePlus could be exploring something new beyond smartphones. Fresh leaks online suggest the brand may be working on its own gaming handheld, a space currently dominated by devices like the Steam Deck and other portable consoles.

The buzz started when a known tipster shared an image on Weibo, showing what appears to be a OnePlus-branded handheld device. Although the post was later edited, screenshots have already made the rounds, giving tech fans a glimpse of what could be coming.

From the leaked image, the device seems to come with textured grips on both sides, possibly designed for better control during long gaming sessions. There are also shoulder triggers, which are common in gaming handhelds, along with a rear camera setup and LED flash, something you do not usually see in this category. A USB-C port sits at the bottom, and volume buttons are visible on the side.

Interestingly, while it carries some design elements familiar to OnePlus phones, the device looks noticeably thicker. That could mean a larger battery or additional cooling features, both important for gaming performance.

Another tipster added a bit more detail, claiming the handheld could feature an 8-inch display and run on a high-end MediaTek Dimensity chip. If true, that would put it in a strong position performance-wise, especially for mobile gaming and possibly even cloud gaming.

Still, nothing is official at this point. OnePlus has not confirmed any plans for a gaming handheld, so it is best to treat these details as early rumors for now. But if the leaks turn out to be accurate, this could be an interesting move for the brand.
