Wii-Mote Controller Chip Designed in the Philippines

Fortune Magazine dissected Nintendo's magical wand to price each of its components.
* Accelerometer: $ 2.50
* Basic Memory Chip: $ 0.25
* Audio Amplifier: $ 0.50
* Data Converter: $ 0.50
* Rumble Pack: $ 2.50
* Bluetooth Chip: $2.00
* Audio Translator: $ 2.00
* Plastic Casing: Unknown
* Wrist Strap: Unknown

One of its parts, the Audio Translator, is said to be designed and manufactured here in the Philippines.
Audio Translator - converts analog data such as human speech into a digital data stream. This feature is unused not but will probably be employed in future games. Manufactured and design in the Philippines and Japan by Rohm.

No one knows what this chip will do on future Nintendo games. I'm betting a "Hey You! Pikachu" sequel. :~)

FYI, this is not the first Nintendo component being manufactured here in the Philippines. Nintendo 64 RF Modulator is also made here. If you still have your RF modulators, check its box or the RF Modulator itself and look for MADE IN THE PHILIPPINES mark.

These markings atleast makes us proud despite the rampant piracy of Nintendo games here.
