Harry Potter And The Cursed Child Book Spoiler Free Review

Nine years ago I posted spoilers for the seventh book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Don't worry I will not do it again this time with the eight book. Nine years after a story after the events of Deathly Hallows was finally available, and it's canon. J.K. Rowling wrote it herself.  Was it worth buying or was it just a hype?

J.K. Rowling is a genius. She made sure that the world of Harry Potter would be alive even after she wrote the Deathly Hallows nine years ago. Yes, the Cursed Child was a play, but the lore of the world she created was still felt here. And now the script was published as a book, those unfortunate like me who cannot watch the play itself would definitely settle with the actual script, just to know the story of the Cursed Child. As a Harry Potter fan, aren't you curious what happened nineteen years later? Yes we had that epilogue about Harry Potter and Albus Severus Potter, but what happened after that? Reading this book is like having a reunion with all the characters you loved from the first seven books. The story may be complicated to some (I will not tell why because it may spoil some people) but the core of it is just like I expected, it made me love the Potterverse all over again. Harry and the original gang had gone mature in this story, but the story is not about them anymore, it's about the next generation. That avoided the "Oh it's a rehash of Harry Potter again" complains.

[post_ad]The fact that it was a script rather than a novel made it easier to read straight into one sitting (or lying if you're comfortable with that), it was only 330 pages, but those 330 pages were worth reading over and over again. But because it was that short, not most of the characters were given a chance to be introduced, not all of the small questions were answered. But that's common when you have only a limited time to express the whole story right? It's a play after all. In the end, Potter heads will love this, heck embrace this book and add it to the other seven. As for new fans, well, you need to read the other books to catch up with the story, but hey, that's why it's called the eight book right?

Oh, please make this into a movie directed by Alfonso Cuarón (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 2004)
