MNL48 Mall Show And The Power of Idols

MNL48 recently held a successful back to back mall show last November 3, 2018 at Vista Mall Taguig and Starmall Alabang and at Lucky ChinaTown Mall and Starmall Edsa-Shaw the following day. MNLoves (official name for the fans) flocked from all over the metro to support their beloved idols. I got the chance to attend a couple of those mall shows, and I felt the intensity of the girls' performance that time.

As you can recall, those same girls performed at the local variety show "It's Showtime" and those were the days that singing and dancing were not the strength of the team, heck, I read a lot of negative comments from the videos I shared on my Facebook feed before. Yes, the dancing was not polished, yes the vocals were sometimes off. But when you get the chance to watch them again this time, months from their television debut, you'll see the "idol material" that embodied the MNL48. The energetic dancing and the strong vocals echoing throughout the mall, made none fans gathered around just to get a glimpse of the performance. In that short of time, the girls became true performers. Mastering the craft of capturing the attention and piqued the interests of anyone within the vicinity.

One particular moment caught my attention. Two young girls begged their parents to buy them the Aitakatta album and those merchandise so that they can get closer to the stage where the MNL48 girls performed with all their hearts. They had developed an interest to what the girls were doing and they were happy watching them. Those same girls may be the future idols we have the pleasure to see perform on stage, just like the ones they saw on that fateful day. That is why the MNL48 members strived to become role models so that future idols can follow on their footsteps and the idol culture can continue on.
