Teen from Philippines Steals P2 Million From Grandma for K-pop Merch

The craze for K-pop has taken the world by storm, and fans can go to great lengths to get their hands on memorabilia from their favorite bands. But for one high school student in the Philippines, her love for K-pop became an obsession that led her to steal over P2 million from her own grandmother.

Bea, not her real name, was a cashier at her grandma's plastic store, earning a salary of P350 per day. With an allowance of P450 per day, she initially used her savings to purchase K-pop merchandise online. However, as her collection grew, the sales from the store dwindled.

Bea's K-pop collection is now worth P2.7 million and includes over 3,000 photo cards, 23 binders, and 50 albums from BTS, BLACKPINK, NCT, and ENHYPEN. She even spent P13,250 on a VIP ticket to ENHYPEN's concert in the Philippines.

Her grandmother was devastated by what Bea had done, and they may have to sell their property to pay off suppliers. The incident also revealed that Bea had a history of stealing from the store.

While collecting merchandise can contribute to a sense of belongingness for fans, Bea's case may point to impulse control disorder. However, there's still a chance for her to make things right and learn from her mistakes.

If you're interested in purchasing some of the items Bea's family is selling to recoup their losses, check out their Facebook page, KPop Jagiya PH.

In the end, it's a cautionary tale about the dangers of unchecked obsession and the importance of setting boundaries to prevent it from spiraling out of control.
