Don't Believe the Fake News! Your GCash Account is Safe

In recent days, there have been false posts circulating on social media that the content of GCash accounts may disappear due to an alleged "update" related to the end of SIM registration in the country on April 26. However, GCash has strongly emphasized that there is no need to panic and withdraw money from GCash because their accounts are safe.

GCash and its parent company, Globe Telecom, also encourage their subscribers to register their SIM cards to combat the increasing number of scam cases in the country. Currently, 79 million Filipinos are using the GCash app.

GCash also stressed the importance of registering SIM cards with their respective telco providers before the deadline to avoid deactivating their numbers and interrupting access to their e-wallet accounts connected to it.

Prepaid users of Globe Telecom can visit the official Globe SIM registration website at https://new.globe.com.ph/simreg to register their numbers. For postpaid users, they can also text the keyword "SIMREG" to 8080 to confirm the information they passed on their initial application for the Globe postpaid plan.

To ensure a smooth and efficient registration process, make sure to have the necessary IDs and provide accurate and true information, including full name, date of birth, gender, address, type of government ID used, ID number, and photo. For minor registered users of GCash Jr., their parent or legal guardian must register their Globe SIM card using their name, information, and ID.

If you wish to transfer your GCash funds to your new number, you also need to create a new GCash account connected to your new number and ensure that it is fully verified. Make sure to register your new number to ensure a smooth transfer process and access to your new GCash account.

GCash assured its users that their accounts and their content are safe during the SIM registration process. Moreover, only telco providers are authorized to process SIM registration, and GCash will never ask for your information through calls, links, text messages, and emails.
