Maya Black: The Credit Card Designed for the Mobile Generation

A new kind of credit card has arrived in the Philippines, and it’s built with today’s digital lifestyle in mind. Maya, the digital bank known for its innovative financial tools, just launched the Maya Black Credit Card, aiming to make premium credit more accessible than ever.

Unlike traditional black-tier cards often reserved for the wealthy or those with long-standing credit histories, Maya Black opens the door to a wider range of Filipinos, including those who may have never owned a credit card before. It’s an all-digital experience that starts and ends on the Maya app, where users can apply, get approved quickly, and receive a virtual card instantly. The physical card follows a few days later and comes with a clean, modern design—no visible numbers, adding a layer of security.

What makes this card stand out is how it decides who gets approved. Instead of relying only on traditional credit reports, Maya uses AI and data from your activities in the app, like how you spend, save, or move money. Even users with no previous credit record can apply through a secured card option, also processed fully in-app. No need for paper forms or long waits.

And Maya Black isn’t just about easy access. It comes with real perks. Cardholders earn Maya Miles for every transaction, which can be used across Maya’s network or converted into travel rewards, including airline miles. There’s a welcome bonus of 3,000 miles after spending ₱5,000 in the first two months. Users also get lounge access at NAIA, worldwide acceptance via Visa, and strong app-based security features that allow freezing or replacing the card instantly if needed.

The launch comes at a time when more Filipinos are interested in owning a credit card, but many still find it hard to qualify. Despite growing demand, only 15% of adults in the country have a credit card, based on recent data. Maya hopes to close that gap by offering a card that’s easier to get, easier to use, and packed with benefits designed for the mobile-first generation.

This isn’t Maya’s first step into credit cards, they’ve already had success with the Landers Cashback card. But Maya Black is clearly a level up, built for users who want something smarter, faster, and more rewarding.
