After 17 Years, R-Truth Parts Ways with WWE
After nearly two decades of entertaining WWE fans, Ron Killings, better known as R-Truth, has officially ended his run with the company. The 53-year-old fan favorite shared the news of his release just days after appearing on WWE programming.
Im sorry to inform you all. I just got released from WWE. I want to thank WWE for the ride, but MOSTLY I want to thank each and EVERYONE OF YOU who was along for the ride, Thank you for all the love, support, and appreciation you have given me over the years. Thank you 🙏🏾

His last big appearance came in a match against John Cena during Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24, where he didn’t manage to pull off the win. His final in-ring moment with WWE was a short match loss to JC Matteo on SmackDown just four days later.
R-Truth’s departure marks the end of an era. Known in recent years for bringing laughter and light-hearted segments to WWE shows, he played the role of comic relief, but with undeniable mic skills and charm. During his recent angle with Cena, he even jokingly called the 17-time world champion his “childhood hero,” despite being older than him.
Truth’s journey in wrestling has been anything but ordinary. He first joined WWE in 1999 as K-Kwik and captured the Hardcore Championship twice. After leaving in 2001, he found success in NWA/TNA, where he broke barriers as the first and only African-American NWA World Heavyweight Champion. He returned to WWE in 2008 and eventually made R-Truth a household name.
In the early part of his WWE return, he was taken seriously as a singles and tag team competitor. He held the U.S. Championship twice and tag team gold with both Kofi Kingston and The Miz. But perhaps his most memorable accomplishment for modern fans is owning the most reigns in WWE history, a jaw-dropping 54-time holder of the chaotic 24/7 Championship.
While this chapter closes, it’s clear that R-Truth still has a lot left to give. Whether he signs with another wrestling promotion or takes on a new role behind the scenes, his knowledge, energy, and experience could be a huge asset anywhere he goes.
