Intramuros Goes Digital with New Tourist App
Exploring the centuries-old charm of Intramuros just got easier. On June 11, 2025, the Intramuros Administration (IA) unveiled its very own mobile app, giving tourists and history buffs a handy digital guide to the Walled City.
This app is the first step in IA’s big plan to modernize how people experience one of Manila’s most iconic heritage sites. With help from the Department of Science and Technology and CIIT College of Arts and Technology, and backed by the Department of Tourism, the app brings stories, tours, and tips together in one convenient place.
Through the Intramuros App, visitors can easily find maps, book tours, check out cultural activities, and even discover recommended restaurants and shops inside the historic walls. There’s also a section for real-time event updates and announcements, so no one misses out on special happenings.
Joan Padilla, the head of IA, shared that the goal is to make information simple and accessible so that everyone can enjoy Intramuros, whether they’re on-site or just exploring from home. She also noted that the app helps reduce printed materials, supporting the agency’s push for more sustainable tourism.
More features are on the way as IA continues to work with its partners. For now, anyone interested can try it out at app.intramuros.gov.ph.
With this new tool, Manila’s Walled City feels closer than ever, blending timeless history with today’s technology.
