You Can Soon Check and Pay for NCAP Violations Through the eGovPH App
Getting caught for a traffic violation is never fun, but what if you could check and settle those penalties without leaving home? That’s exactly what the government is working on right now. As part of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s push to digitize public services, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is making moves to connect traffic violation systems with the eGovPH app.
DICT Undersecretary David Almirol Jr. recently shared in a Malacañang briefing that they’re teaming up with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) to make this happen. The idea is simple: once everything is in place, motorists can log into the eGovPH app, see if they have any traffic violations, including those from the No Contact Apprehension Policy (NCAP), and even pay the fines directly through their phones.
The app will also provide proof of the violations, complete with photos or video clips from MMDA cameras. Just one tap on the "penalties" section, and users will be able to view exactly what they did wrong and take action immediately.
But that’s not all. DICT is also working on linking the MMDA’s single ticketing system and the Land Transportation Office’s Land Transportation Management System (LTMS) into the app. These connections are all made possible through a central e-government data exchange platform called eGovDX, which keeps everything updated and coordinated in one place.
Thanks to this integration, motorists with unpaid penalties may even be prevented from renewing their driver’s licenses, making sure people settle their fines before they can proceed with renewals. It’s a smart move to help enforce traffic rules without the hassle.
Aside from traffic concerns, the DICT is also looking to bring in services from agencies like the Social Security System (SSS) and TESDA, especially their scholarship programs. The eGovPH app is being shaped into a one-stop platform where citizens can access various government services more conveniently.
DICT assures the public that more useful features will continue to roll out as part of their digital roadmap.
