Ragnarok Online 3 Reinvents Sieges as Manila Hosts Its First Competitive GVG Trial
Ragnarok Online 3 took a major step forward in Manila when the game’s publishers invited select guild leaders and long-time community players to try an early version of Emperium Showdown. The closed testing happened on 22 November 2025, turning what fans knew as classic Siege War into something faster, tighter, and built for high-stakes competition.
Instead of presenting a nostalgic throwback, Gravity Game Vision and co-developer JoyMaker used the Manila session to show how serious they are about structured competitive play. The goal is clear. RO3 wants to push guild-versus-guild battles into a format that works for tournaments, spectators, and organized leagues.
The playtest immediately showed how different this direction feels. Matches went through several stages, starting with heavy siege pushes at the gates, followed by chaotic clashes inside the city, and ending in a final stand around the Emperium. Every choice mattered. A wrong rotation or poorly timed push changed the momentum instantly, and participants treated each scenario like they were already in a professional finals match.
What made the event stand out was the type of players involved. These were guild commanders who have been leading battles for years, and they approached the test with the mindset of real tacticians. The way they used rams, ladders, cannons, and mechs felt like watching a polished tournament run instead of a regular MMO session. Even commander abilities became tools for controlling tempo and shaping team strategy.
After the battles wrapped up, players sat down with the developers for an in-depth discussion. The feedback focused on pacing, clarity during chaotic fights, class roles, and how the mode can expand into larger systems. The conversation sounded less like fans giving suggestions and more like teams collaborating on a shared competitive vision.
For RO3, the Manila test became a strong confirmation that Emperium Showdown can serve as the backbone for future leagues, regional qualifiers, and big onstage events. The game is clearly aiming higher than simply reviving old memories. It is setting up a long-term competitive ecosystem for guild warfare.
With momentum now building, RO3 is moving to its next step. Pre-registration is open for players who want early access to upcoming tests and limited competitive sessions. The sign-up is positioned as the first step for anyone who wants to be part of the next era of large-scale guild battles.
