TOYCON Summer Prelude Is Happening at Okada Manila

If you’re into toys, collectibles, or cosplay, there’s a fun event coming up that might be worth adding to your weekend plans. The upcoming TOYCON Summer Prelude is set to take over Okada Manila this April 11 to 12, and this time, it’s not just happening in one space.

What makes this year’s kickoff a bit more exciting is the setup. Instead of a single venue, the event is split into two different areas, each offering a different kind of experience.

Inside the Crystal Pavilion, you’ll find what most fans would expect from a TOYCON event. Think rows of toys and collectibles, booths from various exhibitors, guest appearances, and even trading card tournaments. It’s the kind of setup that feels familiar if you’ve attended past events, just with a bit more energy as it opens the season.

Step outside and things shift a bit. Over at The Garden, the vibe becomes more laid-back and festive. This is where the Cosplay Fiesta takes place, bringing in a more open, summer-style atmosphere. Expect interactive booths, an artist alley, and plenty of chances to snap photos with cosplayers against a scenic backdrop. There’s also a night market feel once the sun goes down, which adds a different kind of charm compared to the indoor setup.

It’s worth noting that both areas run on different schedules, so planning ahead can help you get the most out of the experience. The Crystal Pavilion runs from 12 noon to 10 PM, while The Garden opens later at 3 PM and stays active until midnight.

Another nice touch is that entry is completely free, making it accessible whether you’re a longtime collector or just curious to check things out.

Getting there is also a bit easier this year. There will be a free shuttle service running between SM Mall of Asia and Okada Manila. The rides are scheduled every 30 minutes starting at 11 AM until 12:30 AM, with pickup in front of Pet Express and drop-off at The Garden. It’s a simple option if you want to skip the hassle of commuting or parking.

With two areas to explore and a mix of indoor and outdoor activities, this year’s Summer Prelude feels like a warm-up that’s already packed with things to do. If anything, it sets the tone for what’s coming next for TOYCON later this year.
