JisuLife Handheld Fan Life9 Review: A Compact Summer Lifesaver?
It’s that time of the year again in the Philippines, and if you’re in Quezon City, you already know how brutal it gets. We’re talking 40 to 42°C on some days. Walking outside feels like stepping into an oven, so bringing your own portable breeze starts to make a lot of sense.
That’s exactly why I picked up the JisuLife Handheld Fan Life9. I grabbed the pink 5000mAh version from SM Department Store for ₱1500 on sale, which is a pretty good deal considering it usually goes for around ₱2000. After using it for a while, here’s my take.
Specifications
- Battery: 5000mAh
- Input: 5V/2A (USB-C)
- Size: 60 x 33 x 119 mm
- Weight: Around 171g
- Speed Levels: 5
- Charging Time: Around 3 hours
- Runtime: Up to 4+ hours at max speed
Unboxing
Inside the box, you get:
- The handheld fan
- Instruction manual
- Neck lanyard
- USB-A to USB-C cable
Pretty standard, nothing fancy, but everything you need is there.
Design and Build
The Life9 feels modern and compact right out of the box. Mine came in pink, which honestly looks nice and stands out compared to the usual black gadgets.
It’s small enough to fit easily in your bag or even your hand without feeling bulky. For students commuting or anyone constantly on the move, this size is a big win.
There’s also a lock switch to prevent accidental turning on inside your bag, which is a small feature but very useful. The base has a rubber pad, so you can stand it on a table if needed.
Features and Usability
This isn’t your typical mini fan. It uses a turbine-style design, which means the airflow is more focused instead of wide.
That comes with pros and cons:
- The airflow feels strong and direct
- But the coverage is narrow
So instead of cooling a wider area, it works best when pointed directly at you. You’ll find yourself adjusting the angle more often compared to traditional fans.
The included lanyard also makes it easy to carry around your neck, especially when walking outdoors under the sun.
Cooling Performance
For its size, the airflow is surprisingly powerful. Even at a short distance, you can feel a solid stream of air hitting your face.
This makes it effective for quick relief during hot commutes, waiting for transport, or walking around campus.
That said, because of the focused airflow, it doesn’t give that “whole body cooling” feel you’d get from bigger fans.
Noise Levels
Here’s one of the biggest tradeoffs.
This fan is loud.
At levels 3 to 5, it starts to sound like a mini hairdryer or a distant vacuum. Even at lower speeds, it’s not exactly quiet.
If you plan to use it in quiet environments like classrooms or while sleeping, this might be an issue.
Battery Life
Battery performance is actually solid.
On full speed, it can last around 4 hours, which is more than enough for daily use. If you lower the speed, you can stretch it even further.
Charging takes about 3 hours via USB-C, which is pretty standard.
Maintenance
One thing to note, cleaning this fan is not easy.
Because of the turbine design and internal structure, dust can build up inside. You’ll likely need to disassemble parts to clean it properly, which isn’t very convenient.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Compact and travel-friendly
- Strong and focused airflow
- Good battery life
- USB-C charging
- Stylish design options
Cons
- Loud, especially at higher speeds
- Narrow airflow coverage
- Hard to clean
- Slightly pricey at SRP
Final Thoughts
The JisuLife Life9 is clearly designed for portability first. It’s small, powerful, and perfect for quick cooling on the go, especially during the intense Philippine summer.
But it’s not perfect. The noise and narrow airflow might turn some people off, especially if you’re used to traditional handheld fans.
For me, it works best as a personal cooling tool when you’re outside and need instant relief from the heat, not as an all-around fan replacement.
It gets the job done and looks good doing it, but the noise and limited airflow area keep it from being a must-have for everyone.
