Manila, considered by many as the haven of 10 peso an hour internet cafes. I was in the vicinity so I decided to visit the local. I went directly to Recto, the capital of all things online (online gaming lang pala hehe), some call it the poor man’s Eastwood (ahaha I made that one up).

I was expecting the usual online games and stores full of DOTA players but I was in for a surprise.

A girl was playing what looks like a Counter Strike game. Ok that’s normal..when suddenly a bunch of fast moving zombies (on steroids) attacked her. She and her friend were shouting instructions and shooting a concentrated burst of fire. I thought things were going to go their way when something happened and she burst into flames?!

Welcome to Left 4 Dead, the newest game to conquer the hearts of university belt students. Plays like Counter Strike, but it’s takes cooperative gaming to a whole new level:

- When a Survivor falls off a ledge, then they may automatically hang onto it and can only be helped up by another Survivor.

- When a Survivor's health is depleted, then they become incapacitated and can only be revived by another Survivor, at which point they continue playing with a low amount of health that decreases over time.

- When a Survivor has been incapacitated and revived twice without tending to their wounds, then they will experience distorted black-and-white vision, and the next incapacitation will kill the player.

- When a Survivor incurs enough damage while incapacitated, or is not eventually helped up by teammates, then the incapacitated player will die.

- When a Survivor is killed, then they will respawn in a closet after a period of time, but must be freed by another Survivor to rejoin the team. Otherwise, the player must wait until the next level.

- Survivors can share first-aid kits and help each other heal.

- Left 4 Dead has friendly fire that cannot be disabled O.o (Ohh shi..)

The enemies are called “infected” they look like your average zombies but with “28 days later” capabilities. Yes they can run and boy will they hunt you down.

There are 5 boss “infected” you need to steer away from as much possible :))

Hunter: This guy jumps on people!
Smoker: A long range attacker that uses its tongue.
Boomer: A fat “infected” who vomits on you. The vomit itself is bad enough but it also attracts large group of “infected”
Tank: Think zombie with muscles. A lot of muscles.
Witch: A passive “infected” that is provoked by any loud sound, flashlight or bullet wound, upon provocation she will attack. Reminds me of the Blaire Witch somehow ugh creepy.

I tried the game out and let me tell you it was an adrenaline rush. Zombies everywhere and you looking over your shoulder just to check if your teammates are pointing at the zombies not you :))

I need to play this game again! Check it out.

It has come to our attention that some of our readers have read an article posted on a blog by Mr. Pierre Tito Galla or popularly known online as the Jester In Exile. The article entitled, "The 2008 Philippine Blog Awards Acceptance Speech of The Jester-in-Exile: You Wanted Some? Here's Some", contains false accusations on our members and inaccuracies on its content that has lead to a twisted version of the truth. His version of the truth.

As a group and as one of the oldest websites in the Philippines, we have always maintained high levels of standards in interacting with our fellow webmasters/bloggers. The last Philippine Blog Awards "controversy" has left many bloggers scarred and although GameOPS only wanted to convey the truth in its posts, we have been left with cheap attacks on our site and members.

On 20th September 2008, GameOPS contributor Andrew Delos Santos (Siopao Master) posted on his personal blogs his disappointments over the list of finalists of the Gaming category of the Philippine Blog Awards. The post is entitled "Level-up being biased in The Philippine Blog Awards 2".
Level-up being biased in The Philippine Blog Awards 2

Ok, As We all know Level-up Games! is now populated by a bunch of idiots who need iodized salt and is being commanded by corrupt GMs. But I can't believe they will go this far. Here's the story:

The 2008 Philippine Blog Awards had a gaming category wherein GameOPS was nominated.

Level-up! was the one sponsoring this award and the rules were as follows
Sponsor Award: The Level Up! Gaming Blog Award

Here is another Sponsor Award for Level Up and its The Level Up! Gaming Blog Award. The Level Up! Gaming Blog Award is open to:

1. A blog about gaming (console/handheld/online) in general or about Level Up!’s games only.
2. Philippine based Filipino Bloggers only

Judges:

Mon Macutay
Marketing Manager, Level Up!

Carlo Ople
Marketing Manager, Level Up!

Kevin Codamon
Editor in Chief, Level Up!

take not the word OR

now, Level-up announced the finalists and boy oh boy it was hilarious!

Some of the finalists had only 3 posts. I believe these were one of the criteria
Content - 80%
The post itself and all its totality from the headline to the manner and style of writing is considered. Content and how the content was presented is critical. It is the total package, from the headline to the grammar and even to the effective use of images and sound, that is considered. Content for content sake is not enough it must be told in a manner that effectively conveys the idea and leaves an imprint in the readers’ mind.

Design and Usability - 20%
This refers to aesthetic and usability features of the blog. Not only should it look pretty but it should also be functional and stress free to navigate within. Is it pretty and user-friendly?

As you can clearly see. some of them haven't met the requirements compared to GameOPS

which I can recall is popular internationally

Was it because of our two negative posts regarding Level-up? Can't they accept constructive criticism?

You decide...

You can see that his post was clearly geared towards Level-Up! Games and not to the Philippine Blog Awards 2008 organizing committee.

On 23rd September 2008, Rocky posted his thoughts and observations on GameOPS entitled, "My Thoughts on the Philippine Blog Awards 2". He revealed his upset on the award giving body by mentioning several key point discussions. The key points need not be mentioned again but the evidence was very glaringly clear. There were indeed a few discrepancies with the judging and the rules.

Alleged bloggers in question had every right to comment and raise their concerns. But Mr. Pierre Tito Galla or The Jester in Exile was not directly part of the issue.

In a "private" Plurk, Mr. Galla pointed out that Rocky was an "effing idiot" and that he can prosecute him immediately if wants to. Rocky was able to prove his points so how can he be labeled an effing idiot?

Rocky edited his original post to clear his statements and apologized to all the parties he has offended. We thought this was the end of it but we were wrong.

On 25th September 2008, Mr. Galla made a post on his blog entitled, "The 2008 Philippine Blog Awards Acceptance Speech of The Jester-in-Exile: You Wanted Some? Here's Some". This post in question combined the separate articles of Andrew and Rocky and was revised to fit Mr. Galla's arguments.

Quoting directly from his post,
Now, when one is weighed and found wanting against a judge's criteria, the criteria one uses to measure oneself is of no consequence. You lost, you weren't chosen, suck it up, betches. Consider this gem by the blogger Siopao Master, with regard to the PWNage of their GameOPS blog by someone else in a Level Up! sponsored category:
Was it because of our two negative posts regarding Level-up? Can't they accept constructive criticism?

You decide...

The judges weren't the convenors; had they a problem with the judging, it would have been correct to go and cyberpicket Level Up! Games, and not the Philippine Blog Awards Convenors. The panel of that category were a completely different group from the judges of the non-sponsor awards.

Interestingly enough, one of that blogger's colleagues makes a similar aside, with regard to a similar category:
Why (were) Coy and Poytee included in the (list of finalists) and even won the top awards? Was it because they're volunteers? May the best volunteers win?

Here we have a blogger who has attached the honor and integrity, the very word and worth of the people involved, by implying that there was some irregularity based on favoritism... the charge of "palakasan". Was this fair and without malice?

Consider: out of thirty-six categories of which there were more than six hundred entries, of which only a small fraction of which were entered by volunteers, there were only two winning entries were of those who were volunteers. Do the math and then let us know if there was any favoritism involved.

The fact of the matter is this: the quality of this blogger's work was not up to scratch compared to what the judges wanted. Instead of graciously accepting defeat and making the choice to give out better work this time, quite obviously this blogger is impugning the credibility, integrity, and honesty of people who, yet again we must mention, have worked their asses off just to make the awards a success.

So, to that question "you decide", here's my decision: You. Lost. Admit defeat and suck it up. Improve, evolve, or extinction. For you to imply that those who were finalists and were eventually awarded were given these honors because of some elitist, cliquish favoritism is to attack with malice aforethought the integrity of the convenors, the judges, the volunteers, the nominees and those who nominated them.

In defense of the convenors, judges, and volunteers, who with much composure and grace under pressure have put up with this sort of mudslinging, here's what I have to say: There is nothing more annoying than some passive-aggressive whiner who pretends to be conciliatory but in the same breath attacks with rabid malice, especially when the attacks impugn the credibility, probity, and integrity of those who have done nothing but their best efforts for the community. Nulla cogito, vermis est.

It was very clear that Andrew was referring to Level Up! Games and not the judges of the Philippine Blog Awards 2008 by just reading the title of his post. While Rocky was just asking honest questions... and those questions were unrelated to the gaming category where GameOPS was included. Those questions were about another special award that I PERSONALLY joined and completely unrelated to GameOPS.

If you review Mr. Galla's post together with Rocky and Andrew's original posts, you will therefore paint a picture that somebody is fabricating lies.

Despite these facts we again decided to put the topic at rest. Except for GameOPS contributor Karlo who posted an entry entitled, "Jester-in-Exile Should be Exiled" to defend both Rocky and Andrew.

On 28th November 2008, I received an email from one of our readers telling us how irresponsible GameOPS was when we published a story about the Philippine Blog Awards 2008. The reader apparently read the story on Mr. Galla's "acceptance speech".

That ladies and gentlemen was just the tip of the iceberg. We received 4 more emails, all of them have read the wrong information from Mr. Galla's blog. As a group, we decided to pursue action.

On 4th December 2008, I emailed Mr. Galla and requested that he edit his "acceptance speech" entry and correct the facts. Instead on 7th December 2008, he made petty insults on his blog, all directed towards me. Though he has not named me as the sender of the e-mail in his post, it was clear on the post that we was referring to my email.

He eventually revealed to his friends who I am while I did nothing on my part to expose him.

His email replies have also proven a point ---he doesn't want to consider my request. He has also repeatedly asked me why he should edit his post and that I should explain myself better to convince him to change his post.

If you follow these scenarios, you can plainly see that GameOPS did everything in our power to control the problem. We have always resorted in using the peaceful solution, even if it meant stepping on our pride.

Just before Mr. Galla's "brilliant speech", I was already contacted by one of the committee members of the Philippine Blog Awards 2008. I was told that our concern with GameOPS and even my personal entry have valid points and I was asked if I wanted to formally file a complaint. I said no. It won't go anywhere anyway.

To the people involved (same as with their friends), if you are still thinking we are bitter over the Philippine Blog Awards controversy then you are badly mistaken. Rocky's post had only one point: the truth. Let me clarify again, Rocky was not condemning Mr. Galla's friends but was asking if they are indeed guilty of something that a professional blogger should not resort too. Andrew obviously wasn't talking about the judges of the Philippine Blog Awards 2008. I am here to clear their names. Our name. GameOPS' name.

To all our loyal readers, on behalf of all our contributors, (Rocky Opiña, Glen Ramos, Mark Bravo, Mike Abundo, Karlo Datoc, Andrew Delos Santos, Micael Rivera, Dian Dela Cruz, and Alvin Infantado) please try to understand that we never maligned the people (judges, volunteers, etc.) who have worked hard to make the Philippine Blog Awards 2008 possible. Everything that Pierre Tito Galla aka The Jester-in-Exile wrote are full of malice and lies aimed to destroy the hard earned reputation of GameOPS and its staff.

GameOPS started out as a website 10 years ago and we've just relaunched the site as a blog last year to adapt to the ever changing world of cyberspace. We are not that famous on the Philippine blogging world and we don't have a "group" to back us up but GameOPS continues to be a labor of love for all of us. We don't get paid for this but we struggle and protect the image of the thing we hold most dear.

To Mr. Galla and his friends, you can continue to write bad things about us with veils on your eyes but the truth will never change. If this makes us sour grapes, trolls, bitter ocampos and jackasses then I don't know what to call you.

Just to quote something from Sun.Star General Santos,
Pierre Tito Galla, a Baguio City-based blogger who was invited for an outside pundit's view of Mindanao, lamented that main stream media sometimes neglect to give the proper context to their reportage.

"For instance, the bombings that occurred in the past are not terrorism related but motivated by extortion. This must be clarified in the reporting," he said.

"As bloggers, we must give the proper context and there could be no limit to space since we could write all we want and post them in our sites," he added, citing the lack of time or space constraints in the mainstream media that result to good stories ending in the trash cans or in the inside pages.

Don't you find it hypocritical that the same guy who fabricated the lies about GameOPS and its staff is the same guy being interviewed by Sun.Star General Santos lamenting mainstream media's lack of proper context?

We thought that the Philippine Blog Awards was one of the perfect venues to tell everyone that we're back. Unfortunately, our recent experience with some irate band of bloggers, some not even directly part of the PBA 2008 board, proves that we should be better off on our own. I hope we're wrong.

TOKYO — Nintendo Co said Thursday it will start offering videos through its blockbuster Wii game console, the latest new feature for the Japanese entertainment giant.

Nintendo said it would develop original programming which Wii users could access via the Internet and watch on their television. It is considering videos for both free and fees.

The game giant teamed up with Japan’s leading advertising firm Dentsu Inc to develop the service, which will begin in Japan next year, with an eye on future expansion into foreign markets.

Nintendo rival Sony Corp has already started using its popular PlayStation series for online movie sales and advertising by placing corporate messages inside games, which often have highly niche audiences.

One prominent advertiser was U.S. President-elect Barack Obama, who placed campaign commercials inside a video game produced by Electronic Arts for Microsoft’s XBox 360 console.

Nintendo and Dentsu said they were soliciting businesses to take part in the project to develop original Wii videos.

“Nintendo and Dentsu shall use the environment surrounding the Wii so that living rooms with Wii-ready TVs would become more of a fun area for communication among families and friends,” the firms said in a joint statement.

Nintendo has shipped 34.55 million Wii consoles around the world, 80% of which are sitting near televisions in living rooms, the company said, adding that 40% of Wii consoles are linked to the Internet.

The Wii, launched ahead of the holiday season in 2006, is known for its innovative motion-sensitive controller which has appealed to people buying a video-game machine for the first time.

Nintendo already enables Wii players to use the game consoles to surf the Internet, shop online, organize digital photos and to communicate with Wii-using friends.

Nintendo in November launched in Japan the DSi, which comes with a built-in camera that lets allows the user to alter people’s facial expressions.

Reports from Yehey!'s Edgar O. Cruz and Hollywood blogger Perez Hilton about a Filipino remake of Twilight by ABS-CBN has been proven false by ABS-CBN's Flowell Galindez.

Flowell said that posters and rumors circulating the internet are all made by fans. So nothing to worry about guys.

UPDATE 12/24/2008: ABS-CBN News has published a story about the Twilight remake and it seems Yehey and Perez Hilton were correct about the remake.
ABS-CBN bags rights for local 'Twilight' remake
abs-cbnNEWS.com | 12/24/2008 9:50 AM

Filipino fans of Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight" series will soon have another reason to celebrate after broadcasting giant ABS-CBN bagged the exclusive rights to make a local television series based on the vampire novels.

Initial reports said ABS-CBN paid $1 million with co-producer Ignite Media for the rights to the Twilight series.

The new series, tentatively titled "Takipsilim", will reunite the onscreen tandem of Rayver Cruz and Shaina Magdayao.

Taping for the series will start February of next year. Some parts of the series will be shot abroad and the other locations include Tagaytay, Bukidnon and Baguio. The series will be directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina.

as of 12/24/2008 4:38 PM

UPDATE 12/27/2008: Flowell officially declared the news of the Filipino Twilight remake a hoax!
ABS-CBN REMAKE OF "TWILIGHT" A HOAX!

Last December 23, nilabas ni Edgar Cruz ang article about sa remake ng ABS-CBN ng movie na Twilight, and the same time Perez Hilton releases his version of the clamor where everyone were furious about the idea. This morning i received an email from Tito Ed Cruz of Yehey.com regarding the updates on the alleged remake/adaptation of Twilight, with the local title Takipsilip where Rayver Cruz and Shaina Magdayao will be the main cast.

Here is Tito Ed's email as posted on the Entertainment Section of Yehey.com

“Di ko alam ako pala magdi-direct ng ‘Twilight,’” director Cathy Garcia Molina curtly replied when Buzzbox asked her if she is opting for a localized version of the blockbuster vampire novel. The buzz is that ABS-CBN had acquired the rights to the novel for US$1 million and that Cathy has been selected to direct it with Rayver Cruz as Edward Cullen and Shaina Magdayao as Isabella Swan.

Cathy informed Buzzbox her schedule is heavy as she has to finish principal photography and post-production of the John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo starrer “A Very Special Love 2,” Star Cinema’s Valentine offering, before she could work on a new project.

This led Buzzbox to inquire from the talent managers of the actors in the unofficial cast if they have been casted for specific roles. Anjie Ureta, manager of Chin Chin Gutierrez who will do the role of Esme Cullen replied, “As of today we have not received information or inquiry regarding ‘Twilight’ remake for Dos.” Becky Aguila, the manager of Joross Gamboa as Jasper Hale and Empress Schuck as Angela Weber, texted, “Di ko alam. Wala pang sinasabi.” Veronique del Rosario, the manager of Nikki Bacolod as Victoria answered, “Wala pang offer.”

Could this don’t-know approach be a ruse? I got this idea when Carlo Orosa, the manager of Karylle as Rosalie Hale, originally answered “Wala pang official.” When asked for a clarification, replied, “Can’t be revealed yet.” Could it be the whole project is still a top secret and people in the know were asked not to talk about it. This may be similar to the information embargo ordered by ABS-CBN top management for “I Love Betty La Fea” as to the actor who would play the role of Armando. This turned to be John Lloyd Cruz which Buzzbox correctly second-guessed.

There are strong reactions from ‘Twilight” cult fans that a petition for ABS-CBN not to proceed with the project is on-going. The petition centers two issues: ABS-CBN’s lack of ability to do justice to the novel and Rayver not being fit to do the Edward Allen part. Before they do this, they have to find out first if the buzz is for real or a hoax?

Save the effort and hate words, guys! Buzzbox clarified with ABS-CBN Corporate Communication Head Bong Osorio and after checking with ABS-CBN Television Head Cory Vidanes categorically stated: “There is no plan for ABS-CBN to remake ‘Twilight.’”

The original article on abs-cbnNEWS.com has already been deleted and the guy who posted that probably got slapped real hard. Remember, they screwed up their official news website's URL on national TV. This is definitely a good addition to the list of ABS-CBN's boo boo online.

The official Dragon Ball Evolution trailer is out! Dragon Ball Evolution an upcoming American live-action film adaptation of Dragon Ball to be released in 2009. The story centers around the adventures of the lead character, Goku, from his childhood into adulthood.

The film began development in 2002, and is directed by James Wong and produced by Stephen Chow. It is scheduled for release on April 8, 2009. Actor Justin Chatwin will play as Goku, and James Marsters will be portraying Lord Piccolo. Ernie Hudson also plays Master Mutaito. He's Master Roshi's (Chow Yun Fat) former sensei and the one who sealed Lord Piccolo away for centuries. Ernie Hudson is famous for playing the role of Ghostbuster's Winston Zeddemore. Sealed Piccolo using a ghost trap? :P

Dragonball special effects are being done by Amalgamated Dynamics, while the visual effects are being done by Ollin Studios, Zoic Studios, and Imagine Engine. The film will also have the anime style of fighting in Dragon Ball Z, such as chi energy blasts and auras.

On December 9th, 2008, it was confirmed that the theme song will be Rule by Japanese pop icon Ayumi Hamasaki. The choice was because director James Wong wanted the movie adaptation of a manga/anime born in Japan to be sung by a Japanese person and was particularly impressed with Hamasaki. Rule will be used as the theme song for every country's release, including America.

Cast:

Justin Chatwin ... Goku
Joon Park ... Yamcha
Christopher Sabat ... Shenron (voice)
Jamie Chung ... Chi Chi
Emmy Rossum ... Bulma
James Marsters ... Lord Piccolo
Yun-Fat Chow ... Master Roshi
Randall Duk Kim ... Grandpa Gohan
Ernie Hudson ... Master Mutaito
Texas Battle ... Carey Fuller
Eriko Tamura ... Mai
Shavon Kirksey ... Emi
Richard Blake ... Agundas
Luis Arrieta ... Weaver
Julian Sedgwick ... Mr. Kingery

Ayumi Hamasaki's the only trace of the original Dragon Ball in this movie. All of them have been Americanized, unlike this live-action Dragon Ball: The Magic Begins (新七龍珠 神龍的傳說, Xīn qī lóng zhū Shén lóng de chuán shuō, or New Dragon Ball: The Legend of Shenlong) released in 1989. I remembered watching this on Betamax :))

So will this be another Michael Bay (Transformers) / JJ Abrams (Star Trek) film? Let's see.

Ever wondered who would win in a fight between Dante and Kratos? Well I do. So here's a little experiment. If it clicks I'll make more and if you're interested you could send us your Fanboy Fight Fantasies and it might be posted in GameOPS/Videogame Fan!

Why wait? Like it’s hard to imagine Jill Valentine and Ada Wong tearing each others clothes off (put drooling emoticon here).

Let's start! Link vs. Kratos

It was a dark day in Hyrule. Armies of Spartans have surrounded the castle.

Kratos: You! Spartan why the delay? I will conquer this kingdom before nightfall.

Lord Kratos! We have almost reached the castle but our army is being held by a lone knight on horseback.

Kratos: So the legend is true. The hero who wields the master sword who comes during Hyrule’s need…

Kratos: Gods of Olympus! I shall not be thwarted. I am the GOD OF WAR!!! Spartans!!! Destroy this kingdom!

Suddenly a lone rider appears over the hill. The rider has a passenger. A girl was with him.

Kratos: Run boy. Live while you still can.

The girl spoke: You, who are tormented by your Gods, leave this place. We have no quarrel with you.

Kratos: Insolent wench! …

Before Kratos could continue his words the rider dropped from his horse.

A boy. Without even proper armor. Wore a green tunic walked calmly towards him. A few feet away from Kratos he unsheathed his sword.

There was no mistake. This is Link, the legendary hero of Hyrule. The wielder of the master sword.

Kratos: Fool!

In a swift instant Link rolled circularly. Before Kratos could react Link was behind him and was barely able to escape Link’s upper thrust. Kratos was taken aback. Link suddenly jumped towards Kratos. His full momentum in a downward thrust. Swiiiish.

Link was very much focused. This was not your usual wizard fight. Halfway from his powerful downward thrust move he suddenly felt something was wrong. He felt heavier. Then it hit him. Half of his body was turning to stone.

Kratos had suddenly used one of his legendary powers. Medusa’s head.

Link dropped to the floor with a thud. Kratos unleashed the blades of war. His own signature weapons. Repeatedly stabbing Link’s body.

Kratos: Is this you champion!!! (holding Link’s frail body)

He approached the girl with Link. It dawned to him this must be Zelda. The princess of Hyrule.

Kratos have slaughtered your hero, now I will feast on your women.

Zelda was silent. In her hands she held a bottle. Something was glowing inside that bottle. She opened it and suddenly a fairy came out!

Lightning spurted from the sky nailing the fairy.

Kratos: Was that a fairy? But it looked like a boy? (Windwaker Fairy)

All was lost for Hyrule.

When suddenly a bright light exploded in front of Kratos. The queen fairy was smiling at him. Laughing like a shy girl. Link’s body was slowly lifted into the air. Hearts were dancing around him. A few moments later Link looked like he never even met Kratos.

Link was concentrating all his magic on his sword. This was his final attack. He released his magic.

Kratos couldn’t believe his eyes. There were four Link’s each with a different colored tunic. The legendary “Four Swords”

The red Link threw a boomerang. Kratos easily swiped it away. Only to notice that it was a distraction for a fire arrow from another Link. Kratos was hit by the arm. A blue colored Link was spinning madly towards him. He was slashed several times. Finally a green clad Link jumped into the air to repeat the powerful downward thrust only this time his sword was glowing. The master sword was alive.

A puff of smoke and Kratos was gone. One his place was a red rupee.

Zelda: You could have handled that better!

Link: Well excuuuse me princess.

THE END

Don’t like the outcome? Do you have something better in mind? Why don’t you submit your own version and be a contributor! Write us at GameOPS and be posted FANBOY!

Bored again?

Here’s one for you. Have you even thought of how old your favorite female video game characters are? Well for the curious here’s a roundup of the female video game characters best kept secret.

Princess Zelda: She was introduced in the Legend of Zelda series. Her character has been explored only lately since she has been prone to abduction by Ganon. She is characterized as a kind hearted person who often make sacrifices for her kingdom.

Princess Zelda comes from a long line of Hyrulean royalty which name their first born Zelda. Although usually a victim she was able to show Link her stuff by saving him in Zelda: Wand of Gamelon and Zelda’s adventure.

According to wiki answers Princess Zelda is likely somewhere from nineteen to twenty-three years old.

Aya Brea: The star of Parasite Eve. Aya was introduced as a detective in the first Parasite Eve and continues to fight mutated Mitochondria based enemies. Aya continues to be 20 years old due to the mutated Mitochondria in her body.

Jill Valentine: One of the most famous characters from the Resident Evil series. Jill is a S.T.A.R.S. member and a survivor of the first Resident Evil game. Her age was based on the Resident Evil 5 ad featuring her tombstone. She was born 1974 and supposedly died in 2008. Meaning she is 34 years old.

Kinda young looking for 34 if you ask me.

Lara Croft: Star of the Tomb Raider series and the cause of “nude code” stampede back in the 90’s :) She is a professional adventurer/explorer. According to some Tomb raider forums she is ugh 40 year old.

Angelina Jolie is only 33! Lara’s older than Angie?!

“Man she’s as old as some of the tomb she’s raiding” :)

Mrs. Pacman: The better half of Pacman has been around since time immemorial. She is 27 years old. According to rumors the pellets she keeps eating are actually miracle aging pills O.o

Nina Williams: One of the characters for Tekken. Nina’s character is an assassin whom joined the Tekken tournament to dispose of her target. Nina’s age should be a around 44 but due to the cryogenic freeze event that happened to her she still has a 24 year old body. Nina is the mother of Steve another Tekken character.

Lei Fang: One of the characters of Dead or Alive. Lei Fang was rescued by Jann Lee another DOA character from a gang of hoodlums. She has a love-hate relationship with Jann Lee and specifically entered the tournament because of him. She is just 19 years old.

Princess Peach: She is one of the characters of the world renowned Super Mario Bros. series. Peach is frequently abducted by King Bowser and this often becomes the plot of a new SMB game. She is characterized as a sweet person who doesn’t hold grudges even from long time enemies like Bowser. She is only 23 years old.

Princess Kitana: She is one of the characters of the Mortal Kombat series. Daughter of Sindel and step daughter to Shao Kahn. Princess Kitana is one of the royal bloodline of the Outerworld. Driven to revenge upon discovering the truth about her family she fights Shao Kahn and other evils in her world. She is 10,000 years old!!! She has also been linked to Mortal Kombat lead character Liu Kang.

Ollllllllllld!

Sonya Blaze: She is a Mortal Kombat characters. Sonya is a special agent. Her primary concern is the capture of another Mortal Kombat character Kano. Scouring over the internet I haven’t been able to get her age so I got the next best thing :) Since she has been patterned after Cynthia Rothrock I will assessing that her age would be the same. Ugh 51 years old. :)

Chun-Li: She is one of the characters of the Street Fighter series. Chun-Li is an Interpol agent who is investigating the death of her dad in the hands of Shadowloo. She is rumored to be linked with Street Fighter lead Ryu. According to Mike Abundo she is already 40 years old!

Rinoa Heartilly: One of the beloved characters for Final Fantasy 8. Rinoa was a member of the "Forest Owls", a small resistance faction seeking to liberate the small nation of Timber from Galbadian occupation before she joined Squal’s party, Rinoa first meet the antisocial Squall Lionheart on the inauguration ball at Balamb garden. She is one of the reasons why the Final Fantasy 8 soundtrack containing the song “Eyes on you” was such a success. She is only 17 years old.

Squall she ain’t legal yet!

Tifa Lockheart: She is one of the characters in Final Fantasy 7. Tifa became a member of AVALANCHE in order to get revenge from Shinra which she believed was responsible for the death of her family. She is also one part of the love triangle between Aerith and Cloud. Tifa is 22 years old.

Yuna: She is one of the characters for Final Fantasy X. Yuna is a summoner who bears the responsibility of stopping the games main villain SIN. In her journey she meets and falls in love with Tidus. She is only 17 years old. What is it with barely legal girls?

Aerith Gainsborough: She is also one of the characters in Final Fantasy 7. Aerith is also a member of AVALANCHE. Anybody who played the game never expected that the wonderful flower girl from the Sector 5 slums will be killed by Sephiroth. This action cemented Sephiroth as one of worse bad guys and made a cultural icon out of Aerith for many years to come. She is 22 years old.

*The author is currently in hiding upon receiving threats from supposedly fictitious characters. He has received word that a certain 10,000 year old lady is looking for him.

Before the dawn of the Game Genie, gamers have used cheat codes to get through an otherwise difficult game. Back in my days it was considered an achievement to know a videogame cheat code.

I remembered a guy by the name of Soso who would be invited by gamers just that he can show off his “skills” in Mario. He can both do the 100 lives and the level skip :) and he’s end up eating all my snacks while we watch drooling as he escapes Koopa (Nobody in turf knew he was Bowser everybody called him Koopa swear :) and finally gets the real princess.

Presenting the most memorable cheat codes in no order whatsoever :)

#10: Can’t think of any. Go away.

#9: Dragon Ball Z 3

UP, X, DOWN, B, L, Y, R, A. Do this if you want to play as Trunks :)

#8: Sonic the Hedgehog 2(GEN)

I remembered that there was a cheat code to make Sonic into his golden Super Sonic persona. Tough luck I was never a Sega fan. Go Google the code :)

#7: Mega Man/ Rock Man (NES/SNES)

In the original Megaman you could use the elec beam and pause the game to cheat kill any boss including that Cyclops thingy which seemed to be harder than Dr. Willy himself :)

In the Rockman X games it wasn’t an actual cheat but more of a secret process in getting “Ryu” haduken, shoryuken. I haven’ tried the shoryuken out buy the haduken was only available at a full life bar. Did I mention it was a 1-hit kill :) wink wink.

#6: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (PS2)

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was pulled off US shelves in the summer of 2005 due to a “Hot Coffee Mod.”. The downloadable patch allowed players to enter girlfriends’ homes and engage in a sex mini-game. :) Kindly remind me to buy an old copy of GTA: SA.

#5: Tomb Raider (PC)

The “nude” code. This code was special since this was the first time I actually surfed the internet (with a naughty intent of course :) Sad to say that this was a hoax but a good hoax any (testosterone filled) young man would want :) let’s just say Lara was the closes thing to a girl a geek could have back then. Nowadays we have Dead or Alive :) no nude codes necessary.

#4: Super Mario Bros (NES)

The infamous hundred lives which can be done by only a handful of people including Lalaine (Jepoy’s better half) using a cellphone no less :) Also the level skip trick. One of the most classic cheat codes :)

#4: Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness/Starcraft (PC)

Designing their own brand of cheat codes what made the Blizzard cheat codes unique was the humor and sense behind the codes. Don’t believe me? Just read the following

“Glittering Prizes” Gives ample resources of gold, wood, and oil for ships.

“Make It So” Speeds up building construction time.

“Unite the Clans” Gives you instant victory.

“UCLA” Displays a message from Blizzard about their favorite sports team (“Go Bruins”).

“Power Overwhelming” God mode

“Operation CWAL” Increases building/upgrade speed (CWAL = can't wait any longer)

“The Gathering” Infinite energy

“Noglues” Computer can't use energy

“Game Over Man” Instant loss

“Staying Alive” Lets you continue playing after you have finished the mission

“Show Me the Money” Gives you 10,000 minerals and gas

“There is no Cow Level” Completes the mission you are on

“Whats Mine is Mine” Gives you 500 minerals

“Breathe Deep” Gives you 500 vespene gas

“Something for Nothing” Everything available is upgraded

“Black Sheep Wall” Reveals entire map

“Medieval Man” Gives free upgrades to units

“Modify the Phase Variance” Ability to build anything

“War Aint What it Used to be” Disables fog of war

“Food for Thought “ Allows you to build more units than supply

“Ophelia” Warp to any mission (type in, press enter, then mission number)

#2: Doom II (PC)

The originator of the “God” mode :) Anybody who played this game had a last of a time making aliens eat chainsaw for breakfast :)

#1: Contra (NES)

The “Konami” code! Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, (Select) Start. (tug tug) (tududut tududut) (tunununun) :) 30 lives baby.

A new Resident Evil 5 ad campaign featured Chris Redfield visiting a tombstone showing Jill Valentines name. A teaser? probably, A part of an intricate plot? maybe, or simply CAPCOM making our mouths drool in anticipation. I don’t know. All I know is I can’t wait for Resident Evil 5 to come out!

Does anybody still remember Aya Brea?

In the year 1998 Square (now called Square Enix) launched one of its better survival horror games called Parasite Eve. This was a big experiment on their part since they were drifting away from the Resident Evil gameplay and going with an RPG.

The gameplay, irresistable characters, wonderful soundtrack, and one of the most challenging extra game (in game secret) ever ensured its place in our hearts.

This was followed by Parasite Eve 2 which was released on 2000. The sequel eventually cloned Resident Evil's gameplay but added a few innovations.
The climax of Parasite Eve 2 being the shower scene of Aya ;)

That was the last we heard from the series.

Being curious as to what happened to such a good game I googled news about Parasite Eve. I found out that Square Enix would be releasing a Parasite Eve game in mobile format. I wasn't been able to confirm that since I can't find any more articles confirming its release. Also they have also launched a new game for the PSP called Parasite Eve: 3rd birthday!

The plot according to sources depicts an Aya Brea whom hasn't aged a year since Parasite Eve 2 and a new enemy called Twisted.

In summing up I for one feel disappointed that the game was not released in the PS3 format wherein it could enjoy the full capacity of Blu-ray but what the heck I'm still gonna get myself a copy.

Enjoy Aya's wedding dress picture *drool*

No it's not Road Dogg Jessie James, Bad Ass Billy Gun, X-pac, Triple H and Shawn Michaels.

12 years after the release of the original Resident Evil. Capcom decided to release a full length CG movie of their masterpiece. Different from the Resident Evil saga spin-off, this movie was 100% based on the game we all loved.

7 years after the events of Resident 2 (Claire and Leon's survival) and Resident Evil 3 (Raccoon City wiped-out) Claire and Leon reunited once again to investigate the new virus outbreak we all know as the T-virus. I must admit, it became nostalgic to me when I watched the whole movie, from the zombie madness to the breaking of glasses, pressure balancing, countdowns and warning announcements.

Too bad there ain't no licker or zombie dogs terrorizing our protagonists but it made up with the battle with the G-virus monster. If you played and memorized the lines of Resident Evil 2 baby this movie is for you, but if you are looking for a horror film better stay away from this movie for you'll be just disappointed from the lack of "scream" factor.

By the way, Alyson Court and Paul Mercier are still the the voices of Claire Redfield and Leon S Kennedy so it all adds up to the nostalgia thing.
