Pats, GameOPS Featured Gamer of the Week

Meet our featured gamer of the week, Pats

Could you tell us something about yourself? How old are you? Where are you located and what are you currently engaged in?

-- Pats: 25yr old internet addict. Born Ilongga, raised in Iloilo but is currently working in Ortigas. Can't live without games, the internet, and music.

When was the first time you actually played a video game? What's the name of the game and game system? What or who made you play?

Family Computer - Battle City! Hahahaha. Back then, which was during my Elementary days, it was what my dad was playing so I joined in. Whenever my cousins came over, we would spend the entire day playing either Battle City or Super Mario brothers.

Do you own a video game console? If yes, what system? Was it your very first console? What video game platform do you prefer? (PC, Consoles or Handheld)

PC/Laptop - Donation from my parents. Probably my most used "gadget" during my college days. Whenever I got the chance, I'd just play whatever game I was addicted to that time.
Sony Playstation 2 - I share it with my boyfriend. First console bought with our own money.
Gameboy Advance - Given by my cousin who got tired of it.

No particular favorite, with regard to the game platform. It doesn't matter whether I use the PC, or my PS2 or my GBA, all that matters is that I enjoy what I'm playing and that I have this absolute desire to finish the game.

What is your favorite video game? Why?

Final Fantasy 8! Because of the oh-so-hot Squall Leonheart <3. Until now, my fascination for his character is still there, especially when I saw how cooool he looks in Kingdom Hearts 2.

How about a particular video game character, who's your favorite? Why?

Syempre, Squall Leonheart Gwapo. Pogi. Astig.
But seriously, I don't like his character that much. His Lionheart Limit Break is just ultra-cool,that's why he's so strong. But he's a boring character, always following Rinoa hmph.

My favorite game character would probably be my Professor in Philippine Ragnarok Online - Loki. She's cute (with her headgears and all), cute, cute, but she can disable you in no time. She's a great party-mate because her skills can support your character while remaining a pest to the opposing characters. You can't really kill her, but don't worry, she can't kill you either - she can only pester you. =P

Do you play online games? What are your current and alltime favorites?

Yes - Gunbound, Philippine Ragnarok Online (pRO), and the web-based MonstersGame.

My all time favorite would have to be pRO - it took me almost 3 years to let go of this game. Why? Because this is where I learned how to steal, cheat, and lie. Hehehe, just kidding. pRO taught me teamplay, good hand eye coordination, patience (during lags and server errors), tactics, and best of all, gave me the opportunity to make a lot of friends. :)

My current addictions: DotA, MonstersGame, and KH2. :)

If you were to convince a friend or co-worker to play video games, how would you do it? Would you do crazy stuffs just to convince him or her?

Nah, if they don't want to, it's their loss.
But if I were to really convince them, what better way to do it than give them a first hand experience of the game? :)

Are you part of a clan or guild? If yes, can you give us some info about your guild?

In pRO, I was the self-proclaimed guild master of Oracle. Hehehe. Note: Self-proclaimed. =P Oracle members are a bunch of EB-goers with the most awful luck when they go on a siege and they're having an EB.

In MonstersGame Server 4, I'm a part of the Elite Wolves. Bunch of gold diggers from innocent vampires. Also, the most hated clan in UK Server 4.

Did playing a video game made any difference in your life? If yes, could you tell us?

Yes. pRO and Monstersgame helped me make a lot of friends. Dota taught me how to play in a team and not panic that much when I'm playing. Starcraft taught me how to strategize. And Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts taught me to aim for victory.

Also, playing video games actually reduced my weight! The sleepless nights and don't-disturb-me sessions made me thin that my parents and friends were able to notice. Hehehehe/

Do you have any personal video game related story that you can share with us?

I met my boyfriend in one of those pRO EB's. =)

Have you ever bought (or played) a pirated copy of a video game? Could you tell us about it?

Er... Secret.

Any last message you wish to impart to our readers? Any greetings and link-love to your friends?

Life's a big game. Better get some practice.

To my Oracle family, I miss you! Inuman naman dyan!
Sa mga Elite Wolves, kelan nga ba tayo magkikita-kita?
Sa mga dota-mates ko sa office, dota mamaya! Hehehe.
