Detective Pikachu 2 Eyeing Portlandia Co-Creator Jonathan Krisel to Direct

Get ready for another round of Pikachu's electrifying adventures! According to Deadline, the sequel to the 2019 box office success Detective Pikachu is in the works, and Portlandia co-creator Jonathan Krisel is reportedly in negotiations to direct. Meanwhile, Chris Galletta is tasked to pen the script.

While details about the plot are still under wraps, fans are excited to see what the sequel has in store. The first film starred Ryan Reynolds as the voice of the titular Detective Pikachu, and Justice Smith as Tim Goodman, his human companion. Kathryn Newton also co-starred in the movie as Lucy Stevens.

Interestingly, Smith himself once said that he didn't think Detective Pikachu 2 would happen, but it looks like he might be proven wrong. It's not yet confirmed if he'll be back for the sequel, but insiders believe that Reynolds will have some involvement.
