Nintendo Direct Narrator “Neuralyzed” After Joking Beef Over Switch 2 Pre-Orders
Even the biggest names in the Nintendo universe aren’t immune to the chaos of trying to land a pre-order for the much-hyped Switch 2. While fans scramble for a shot at the next-gen console, it turns out even gaming legends like Masahiro Sakurai (the mastermind behind Super Smash Bros.) and famous Japanese voice actor Yuichi Nakamura are right there in the trenches with the rest of us, relying on luck and lottery slots.
Now here’s where things got unexpectedly hilarious.
Yuichi Nakamura, who's not just known for being the voice behind Nintendo Direct in Japan but also for roles in hit series like JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and Final Fantasy, posted a cheeky tweet. He warned he'd be cutting off anyone who managed to get a Switch 2 pre-order. Of course, it was all in good fun.
Not long after, Sakurai shared that he did secure a pre-order. The reaction? A mock meltdown from Nakamura, which sparked a joke that sounded straight out of a sci-fi movie. Sakurai replied that the only way to save their friendship was to “erase his memory”, a clear nod to the iconic memory-wiping “Neuralyzer” from Men in Black.

Taking the joke further, Nakamura shared a hilarious photo of a regular Nintendo Switch with a shaky "2" scribbled in yellow marker, acting as if it were his poor man's version of the next console.

Then came the ultimate follow-through. Sakurai met up with Nakamura in real life and staged a mock memory-wipe using what looked like a karaoke mic, as if it were the real Neuralyzer. A goofy end to a very relatable tale of console envy and friendship among two major names in gaming.
Sometimes, it’s nice to know that even the pros go through the same struggles as fans, and that a little humor can go a long way in softening the blow of a missed pre-order.
