Nintendo Returns to GamesCom 2025
After taking a break last year, Nintendo is officially heading back to GamesCom in 2025. The massive gaming event is set to happen in Cologne, Germany from August 20 to 24, and this time, Nintendo fans have even more reason to get excited.
Many believed Nintendo skipped GamesCom 2024 to focus on getting the Switch 2 ready. With the new console launching on June 5, the timing couldn’t be better. GamesCom will likely be one of the first big public events where fans can get hands-on experience with the Switch 2.
Nintendo made its return official on social media with a cheerful announcement: "Mark your calendar in red: Nintendo will be back at GamesCom in 2025. We look forward to welcoming you to Cologne from August 20th to 24th!" Clearly, they’re ready to make a splash.

Although the full event lineup hasn't been revealed yet, there's a strong chance we'll see a deep dive into the Switch 2’s launch games. Titles like Mario Kart World, Drag x Drive, and Donkey Kong Bananza are already generating buzz. Meanwhile, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokémon Legends: Z-A are still on the horizon and could be part of the showcase or teased with more gameplay reveals.
With the Switch 2 finally landing in players' hands in early June, Nintendo’s GamesCom booth might become one of the busiest spots at the event. Whether you’re attending or watching from home, August is shaping up to be a big month for Nintendo fans.
