Dbrand’s Killswitch for Switch 2: Great Idea, Rough Execution?
If you’re eyeing Dbrand’s new Killswitch for the Nintendo Switch 2, here’s a quick heads-up: some early buyers are finding both the case and its custom dock adapter more trouble than expected.
First, let’s talk about the case itself. Many Switch fans trust Dbrand for sturdy, stylish protection, but this time, the Killswitch seems to mess with the Switch 2’s Joy-Cons. Players have shown clips online of controllers slipping off way too easily when you grab just one side. Dbrand says this happens because Nintendo left a small space to prevent accidental detachment, but the Killswitch fills that gap, making the Joy-Cons pop out if you don’t hold the back of the console too. Some say this design flaw is a dealbreaker, especially when multitasking or gaming with one hand.
Next up, the dock adapter. Dbrand designed a custom piece so you can dock the Switch 2 without taking the case off. Sounds convenient, right? Unfortunately, reality says otherwise. Users on Reddit and forums have posted stories of the adapter falling off when used with one hand, which defeats the point of quick, seamless docking. Others find it a pain to line up the marks on the case and adapter, and some get a dreaded “No Signal” on their TV, forcing them to fiddle with the connection over and over.
Considering the Killswitch costs more than most other cases and docking setups, many buyers are wondering if it’s worth it right now. Dbrand says improvements are on the way, but they admit not every issue can be fixed instantly.
So if you’re thinking of grabbing this premium combo for your Switch 2, you might want to wait a bit, or at least keep an eye on how these fixes turn out.
