Instagram Introduces a New Way to Personalize Your Feed With “Your Algorithm”

Instagram users who love tweaking their feeds finally have something new to play with. The platform just introduced a feature called Your Algorithm, a simple tool that lets you see and adjust the topics that shape your Reels experience. If you have ever felt like your interests changed but your feed did not keep up, this update was designed exactly for that.

Instagram has always been a spot where people get lost in their favorite content, whether it is travel clips, funny videos, or creators they follow. The problem is that preferences shift over time, and sometimes the algorithm does not keep pace. With the help of AI, Instagram is now giving users an easier way to guide the kind of videos that show up on their Reels tab.

The feature works through a small icon on the upper right corner while watching a Reel. It looks like two lines with hearts. Tapping it opens up a page that lists the topics Instagram believes match your interests. Users can review that list, mark which ones they want to see more or less of, and watch the recommendations adjust in real time. There is also an optional option to share this list on a Story, which might be fun for people who like comparing interests with friends.

Instagram shared that this is only the first step. The company plans to bring the same level of control to Explore and other areas of the app later on. For now, the feature is available in the United States and will roll out globally in English soon. Since this update is still new, Instagram says they are continuing to improve how it works. It will likely get smarter over time as more users try it out.

It is a small change, but for anyone who wants a feed that actually matches their mood and interests, this feels like a very welcome upgrade.
