The Game Awards 2025 Wrapped Up With Big Wins and Even Bigger Reveals

The Game Awards 2025 has wrapped up, and once again it delivered a full night of surprises, new trailers, and well deserved wins. It might only be December, but the show felt like a final celebration of a busy year in gaming. With the Nintendo Switch 2 officially out and several hit titles already making waves, this year’s event had plenty of moments worth talking about.

One title dominated the spotlight all night. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 took home several major awards including Best Art Direction, Best RPG, Best Narrative, and even Game of the Year. It was easily the most celebrated game of the show. Other fan favorites also walked away with recognition. Mario Kart World grabbed Best Sports and Racing, Hollow Knight: Silksong won Best Action and Adventure, and Donkey Kong Bananza earned Best Family Game.

Mobile players also had something to cheer about. Umamasume Pretty Derby won Best Mobile Game, while Wuthering Waves grabbed the Player's Voice Award, proving how strong this year’s mobile releases were.

But the awards were only half the fun. As usual, TGA was packed with announcements for upcoming handheld and portable platforms. Some reveals were long awaited, others were total surprises.

Capcom finally revealed Leon Kennedy as the second lead for Resident Evil Requiem, confirming months of speculation. The game arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 in February 2026 and pre orders opened during the show. Capcom also announced that Pragmata is coming to Switch 2 next April, with a playable demo already available on Steam.

There were also updates on several beloved franchises. Two new Tomb Raider projects, Legacy of Atlantis and Catalyst, are in the works for 2026 and 2027. Metroid fans learned that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond now has a special Switch 2 edition that is already available. And the long quiet Mega Man series finally returns with Mega Man Dual Override, a fresh side scrolling entry launching in 2027.

The show also highlighted a number of games coming to handheld systems next year. Orbitals, a retro styled space adventure, launches on Nintendo Switch in 2026. Phasmophobia creeps its way to Switch 2 the same year, bringing its multiplayer ghost hunts to a new audience. Meanwhile, Arknights: Endfield got a firm release date in January 2026 for Android, iOS, PC, and PS5.

It was also a great night for fans of crossovers and adaptations. A new trailer for the Super Mario Galaxy movie previewed more scenes before confirming its April 2026 release.

A first look at the upcoming Street Fighter movie also appeared, teasing plenty of big action. Even Fortnite joined the celebration by revealing upcoming Hogwarts House outfits, tied to Hogwarts Legacy going free on Epic Games Store for a limited time.

TGA 2025 showed how strong this year has been for gaming while setting the stage for an even busier 2026. With new consoles, sequels, and long absent franchises making a comeback, handheld gamers and console fans alike have a lot to look forward to.
