Infinix NOTE 60 Ultra Brings Supercar-Inspired Design to Smartphones

The smartphone market is filled with devices carrying the “Ultra” branding, but many of them look almost the same, bulky bodies, oversized camera bumps, and designs focused more on showing off specs than style. With the NOTE 60 Ultra, Infinix is trying a different direction through its partnership with Italian design firm Pininfarina.

Known for designing iconic cars for brands like Ferrari and Alfa Romeo, Pininfarina worked on a smartphone for the first time in its 95-year history. Instead of simply adding logos or changing colors, the collaboration focused on reshaping how a flagship phone should look and feel.

Infinix wanted the NOTE 60 Ultra to appeal to younger users who want strong performance without the usual heavy and overly aggressive flagship design. The phone combines minimalist styling with smooth curves and a cleaner overall appearance inspired by Italian automotive design.

One of the most noticeable features is the “Uni-Chassis” camera module. Unlike many modern smartphones that use large camera islands, the NOTE 60 Ultra uses a single piece of glass covering the upper rear section of the device. This gives the camera setup a more seamless and less cluttered appearance while also making the phone feel more premium in hand.

Pininfarina designers said the goal was to make the phone feel like one continuous object instead of a device packed with visible components. Small details like polished edges, subtle metal accents, and the discreet Pininfarina signature also add to the luxury-inspired aesthetic.

The phone also introduces lighting effects inspired by sports cars. A red rear light strip called the Floating Taillight activates during startup and notifications, creating a dramatic effect similar to automotive rear lighting. Another feature called Active Matrix allows users to display customizable pixel-style animations and effects.

What makes the feature more impressive is that the lighting system stays completely hidden when not in use. According to the team, achieving that invisible look required extensive adjustments to coatings, colors, and manufacturing precision across different phone variants.

Despite the minimalist design, the NOTE 60 Ultra still packs powerful hardware. Beneath the sleek rear panel are multiple cameras, including a 200MP main sensor and a 50MP telephoto lens, along with sensors, flash modules, and the custom lighting system.

The collaboration has already received positive attention from tech publications and even earned the 2026 iF Design Award. Many reviewers praised the project for being more than just a simple branding partnership.

The NOTE 60 Ultra also marks an important step for Infinix as it continues pushing into the premium smartphone market. Instead of relying only on specs, the company is now focusing more on craftsmanship, aesthetics, and overall user experience.

The Infinix NOTE 60 Ultra and NOTE 60 Pro Pininfarina Edition are now available in the Philippines through major online shopping platforms.
