Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass Revealed, Free Dive Update and Underwater Town Arrive This August
Fans of Pokémon Pokopia have plenty to look forward to in the coming months. The Pokémon Company has officially announced a major free update alongside the game's first paid Expansion Pass, giving players even more ways to enjoy building peaceful towns with their favorite Pokémon on Nintendo Switch 2.
One of the biggest additions is the free Version 2.0.0 update, scheduled to launch in August 2026. The highlight is a brand new move called Dive. Once unlocked, Ditto can finally explore underwater areas that were previously out of reach, opening an entirely new layer of the world for players who enjoy discovering hidden places and expanding their towns.
To unlock Dive, players will first need to complete the "Raise the environment level!" request at Bleak Beach, while also having the Jump ability and the Surf move.
The underwater adventure does not stop there. Launching alongside the update is Part 1 of the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass, called Bubbly Basin. This new DLC introduces a colorful underwater town where players can continue developing their community while meeting Pokémon that live beneath the sea. Existing save files are fully supported, so there's no need to start over.
Nintendo also confirmed that the Expansion Pass will include three parts. Part 2 is planned for late 2026 and will introduce additional gameplay features, although it will not add a new town. Part 3 is currently scheduled for 2027 and promises another new town, along with more content to explore. Players can also expect ocean-themed furniture and fresh outfit options for Ditto throughout the expansion.
Those who purchase the Expansion Pass will receive a few extra bonuses. A special crafting recipe unlocks Dynamic Ditto print blocks and wallpaper, allowing players to decorate their towns with unique themed designs after claiming the item from the in-game DLC menu.
There is also an early purchase reward. Players who buy the Expansion Pass by August 31, 2027 will receive a serial code for 30 Rare Pokémetal Ingots, useful materials that can also be obtained through regular gameplay. The code can be redeemed through the Mystery Gift feature after linking a Nintendo Account and connecting to the internet.
Beyond the expansion, The Pokémon Company confirmed that Pokémon Pokopia will continue receiving regular in-game events. These limited-time activities will let players recruit visiting Pokémon while earning exclusive furniture and other rewards. Previous events featured Hoppip, Bulbasaur, and Sableye, with another event already planned for June.
To celebrate the announcement, Nintendo also released a brand new trailer showcasing the upcoming update and Expansion Pass, giving players an early look at the underwater content waiting later this year.
Pokémon Pokopia launched on Nintendo Switch 2 in March 2026 as a relaxing sandbox town-building game where players create cozy communities alongside Pokémon. With free updates, seasonal events, and a multi-part expansion on the way, it looks like the peaceful adventure is only getting bigger.
